FSL Concorde-X P3D version close to release

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the update

How in depth is this bird. Is it like PMDG level in depth simulation

Absolutely yes! The Concorde is an extremely high-workload simulation, because a single person has to perform the functions of three r/w crew members. Based on my previous experience with the FSX version of the FSL Concorde, I would estimate that almost all systems of the actual aircraft are fully and accurately simulated.

The Concorde is old school technology - all steam gauges on the flight deck, with multiple complex systems unique to this aircraft. On a typical 3-hour transatlantic flight, the virtual pilot will be busy managing the aircraft continuously from start to finish - especially if operating the fuel system manually, without using the "Virtual Flight Engineer" option.

This is definitely NOT an aircraft where one programs the FMS, activates LNAV/VNAV after takeoff, then sits passively for hours while the aircraft flies itself!

Super Exciting!!! I am now even more excited to see this bird in my P3Dv3 after reading your statement.  Thank You for answering my post

I remember flying this aircraft for the first time in FSX. On flnal I turned off the autopilot to fly the aircraft by hand, It was the hardest thing i flew in the simulator. I touched half way on the runway. Pretty bad landing  :P

This is fantastic news!! One of the very few birds I've always missed in P3D... last I checked they weren't in a hurry to update if at all. Very excited, thanks for sharing!

I have to wholeheartedly disagree with you there.

This is one of my all time favourite add ons.

I don't think the VC looks that dated. True, not all the instruments and gauges have 3D needles and reflective glass, but to be honest while they look fantastic, aircraft with those slow my system to a crawl. The texturing is still pretty good in my opinion. I think it more than makes up for it in systems immersion and flight modelling, I used to watch the ITVV Concorde DVD whilst flying this add on and it is absolutely spot on in that department.

Not sure what you see as looking "dated" in the VC. The images appear to be well textured, with good 3D relief, and of course, the addition of shadows in P3D. The images compare favorably with photographs of real Concorde cockpits. It is, after all, a "dated" flight deck in r/w, as it is an 40+ year old airplane.

From my experience in the FSX version, almost all of the flight engineer sub panels are also available as 2D pop-ups, which will certainly also be the case in the new version as well - and very necessary. The FE panel is so complex and physically large, that trying to operate it strictly in VC mode would be next to impossible.

tuMLdaA.jpgAs P3D Betatester vor the Concorde-X i can see she`s amazing in P3D :)

The worked on a lot of things she fly`s very good and also looks very good.

Also at least for me the VAS Ussage got a lot better.  At FSX Times i started in EGLL with 400-450 MB VAS left now i have 950 MB left with ASN, Aerosoft EGLL extended, FS Global , Vector and LC Europe and after the landing in KJFK with FTX LC US and drezweky design new york x v2 with hi-res and fsdreamteam kjfk i have still 350 MB left.

so for me she`s very good now. :)

Looking forward to this bird. Miss flying her in FSX. It's gonna take a little time to get back into the swing of things with Concorde. It's quiet complex. The VC isn't the best for visual quality but at the same time I don't think its truly that bad. As said the depth of the systems and the flight dynamics make up for it. I'll definitely be buying :)

I can say she`s great.

And my fellow beta test colleagues made a lot of testflights :)

In that case enjoy your 7-hour flight from Heathrow to JFK. As a real-world Concorde pilot would say to his passengers... "see that 747 over there. He'll take-off 2 hours before us and will land 2 hours after us." B)

How long they been working on this P3D version, 4 or 5 years?

A few months actually Bob. And whilst I've been testing the FSX version the P3D has been just as impressive. Quality before calendar.
