Coolsky DC-9

Recommended Posts

Hello!  Has anyone managed to get the Coolsky DC-9 running in P3Dv3?  I tried installing it by simply changing the P3Dv3 folder to v2, and when I fire up the sim I can see the aircraft with all of it's liveries, but after loading I just get a black screen and the sim locks up (I need to ctrl-alt-del to shut down).  Any thoughts?  I have read that some have had success using the Estonia Migration Tool, but I currently don't have it.  I am running Windows 10.  Thanks!

Unfortunately I have the MD-80 Proffesional Pilot from CoolSky and have the same issues.  There customer support is lacking and they have the attitude of "that's a P3D issue!"

I have removed Coolsky and a couple of other Payware planes and will wait until I see a fix come around.  You would think that with FSX-Steam and P3D, software creators would be coming out with everything, but that is not the case.  Let's look at what is or is not available for P3D V3 at this time for PayWare!:

Boeing 717  Crickets

727  (P3D) Captain Sim works but has some minor issues

            737  (P3D)

            757  Not P3D Supported

            767  Not P3D Supported

            747  (P3D) Ifly (excellent)

777  (P3D) Captain Sim (works great!) PMDG (sorry can't make the stretch for the cost!)

            787  crickets, crickets, crickets

Airbus  A318  (P3D) Aerosoft

            A319  (P3D) Aerosoft

            A320  (P3D) Aerosoft

            A321  (P3D) Aerosoft

A330  (P3D) Blackbox but still has not completed  a final version

            A350  crickets

            A380  crickets

DC      9   crickets

10  CLS I will have to say has a somewhat decent version

Lockeed L1011  (P3D)  Just Flight has a really good version CPT SIM is good also!

MD      80-88  crickets

This is my list just off the top of my head.  So imagine someone who wanted to make a coin or two who could fill this void!

I can do the same as dgraham1284, my problem was I get an OOM within 30 minutes.  I tried to get Coolsky customer support but was told they did not support P3D v3.1.

So dgraham1284, what was your solution, or do you have an OOM problem?

Boeing 717  Crickets

You'll be happy to know that the crickets aren't chirping on this one anymore. A company called TFDi is actively developing a procedural simulation of the 717. It looks really good and should be out this year.

HI Folks,

Re: Super 80 in P3Dv3.1

Well Coolsky doesn't seem to have any EULA prohibiting its use in other sims and while they don't support it they don't object either - so how did you get it to work ? I recently tried as a normal install of the Super 80 and with the migration tool and it didn't seem to work... It appeared in the menu but none of the control screens would appear when loaded... I think my issue is compounded because I'm using Win10 with P3Dv3.1 as I couldn't get it to work in FSX Steam either...

Regards,

Scott

David,

Care to share any insights into installing the DC-9?  Your screenshots are incredible!

Unwrap the Flight1 installer. But don't install the DC-9 same as MD-80 Pro. Boot into safe mode. Install as an admin pointing it to p3d. Do NOT install any of the hot fixes. Reboot into normal windows. Fire it up. The first time it may not work. Reboot and try again.

For when you use the DC-9,change optimized parts to 0 from 1 in the prepar3d.cfg. Otherwise you'll have strange triangle graphical anomalies.  Or if you have them, McPhats HD Cockpit Textures. 4096

I did a flight from KMCI to KORD with no issues... Not sure why is going on in your end.

I personally cannot wait for this release.

dggraham1284 process for installing CoolSky DC-9 is how I found out to install MD-80, you have to go to Safe Mode for the install.  I will tonight for kicks do another install and try the optimized parts to see if that may make a difference in OOM's.  Like I said before, I have had OOM before I could get off the ground if I took my time.

Great news about the TFDi 717!

Am I right in saying the Panel shots are of a DC-9 and the exterior is of a MD-80?

No.... The are grouped. First set is the DC-9 and second is Md-80

Well reloaded MD80 Pro into P3D V3 for second time by using safe mode.  Did not load the update just the original to the P3D site.  Made a flight plane from KGRK to KATL, about a 2.5 hour flight, have EFB and Next ASN on.  Started with a VAS of 45% now I am curently 59 minutes from KATL  and VAS is at 82% in the yellow.  Don't think I will make it!
