Coolsky DC-9

Recommended Posts

///Follow Up////  It CTD soon after I wrote my last post.  Tried two more times and had the same results, I could slow it down by turning everything down low or off like traffic, but to me as much as I like the plane, it is not worth it!  So back to the archives and hope there is a fix or a better alternative to the CoolSky.  Has anyone been able to fly the MADDOG MD80 on P3D v3 without a ton of issues?

What happens if you install the hotfixes? I am having the same problems. I will try the safe mode install but shame to lose the fixes.

Ok I think I have a solution for me. I installed dc9 normally and applied none of the proposed workarounds mentioned here. Installed hotfixes too. I had all the problems people have mentioned above with most of the dc9 variants but but not with the second last plane in the dc9 list which is the Ansett one. I find i have none of these problems with it. I don't even get the black texture in the virtual cockpit it works fine

I am using P3dV3.2 and Win10pro as well...I am planning to buy the DC-9 as I think in near future we won't see any P3D ready version.

Are there any news concerning the DC-9 in V3, problems "solved" or any workarround?

Just to clarify what your saying is that it works in P3D32 after installing using the package installer but you must select the Ansett Livery to fly...Correct? Can you post some images of it in flight showing VC and externals pls

My post above is from January. 3.1 was out then. The rest of your statement is correct. I am now on 3.2 but have not flown the DC9 since 3.1. Will need to check on 3.2.

I have it installed in P3Dv3.

What I did to install it:

1. Pre-requist : Copy paste Prepar3d.exe et rename to fsx.exe (fsx.exe needs to be in p3d folder for the installer to run, and you can delete it after installation done)
2. Install DC-9Classic-SP1 Installer.exe
3. Install hot fix 2
4. Install Hot fix 3
5. Install McPaht UHD (Ultra High Definition) cockpit textures in 4096x4096 to avoid blue wall bug in cockpit

If you want to use UHD cockpit textures with non UHD livery :
Note : By default the installer only installs it to be used for DC-9 UHDT World Airliners, but you can use them in junction with other repaints as well.

Copy the text below into the texture.cfg file of the livery of the plane you want to have UHD cockpit texture with. You will find your texture file in your "...\simobjects\Airplanes\F1 DC-9"  folder. As an example. if you want to have UHD cocpit texture in your Alitalia aircraft, you will copy-paste the data to your texture.cfg file located in your \texture.Alitalia" folder.

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\texture.UHDT
fallback.2=..\texture
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture
fallback.4=..\..\..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture

(Make sure you ran the installer and opted for the Grey 4096 texture set first, of course)

Hope this help !

Hi Mike,

Can you confirm it's working with P3D with Win10 ???

I tried to get the MD80 to work and nothing worked right... Tried using EMT to install as well...

Unfortunately Espen had neither P3D or Win10 loaded and was entrenched in a new project - so I couldn't get much help from CS...

Regards,

Scott

I managed to get this working, without the "tool" (haven´t got it installed). What I did:

1. Made a copy of P3D.exe, and called it FSX.exe, and put it in the main P3D client dir.

2. Downloaded the Coolsky DC-9 from Flight 1.

3. Ran the installer, and put in the re-install key-file.

4. Pointed the installer to the main P3D client dir.

5. Went flying.

(Haven´t installed any hot fixes yet).

One observation: The "toolbar" normally located at the bottom left corner of the screen will appear immensely small if you have the PANEL_STRETCHING=0 set, and you run a high resolution display.

I did a quick test around EGLL yesterday, tried out the auto aircraft configurations etc, and it all appeared to be working.

Hope this helps.

(I actually got the Lago Maddog 2010 MD-80 to work as well - with VC clickspots and everything, with the same method mentioned above! Don´t know what LM changed in V3.2 to make this work, but now it does. Performance is not great, but it flies!).

Regretfully, almost two years ago, the people at Coolsky said in their forum they did not believe interesting making the Classic DC9 compatible with P3D due to the low market share of P3D. Time proved they were dead wrong. Hopefully they will be able to patch or update their excellent DC9 to make it usable with 100% functionality in P3D.
