News on DTG Simulator is coming soon!

Featured Replies

I will be pedantic and correct the title of this post, it should state "News on DTG Simulator IS coming soon"

True, though in fairness, the OP's first language may not be English, and he may not have realized that "news" is actually a singular noun.

Hello AVSIM!   Last year we were very excited to announce that we would be starting work on developing a brand new flight simulator. Since then we at DTG have spoken sparingly about the project and

Either way i already thanked him for pointing out my mistake

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

Wouldn't it be just spectacular if they managed to actually produce something to challenge Prepar3D V3.X

Wouldn't it be just spectacular if they produced something......ANYTHING? ;)

DTG flight sim will be the one for "flight sim lite" 3PDs gravitate, focusing on the "control-e to start engines" crowd with $19.95 price point products with simplified realism. It will be a channel designed to funnel as much paid content as they can muster. Obviously they're a business in it to make money (understood) but their methods will not be popular with many here.

I couldn't agree more. Don't look for this to be a step forward as far as the simulator is concerned.

Thinking how many years LM has been working on a simulator and they have way way more money than DTG so my by my math just doesn't add up

Unlike LM, Dovetail does have access to the Flight engine, which Microsoft had significantly overhauled from ESP (even uses some stuff from the never released MS Train Simulator 2). Even further than LM has gone with P3D in some ways (Flight had a different model format, new autogen system, in-cloud effects, new content loading system, and much more). Hopefully Dovetail has taken this even further.

Now, that said, I still very much appreciate and enjoy what the P3D team has done. They've simply been taking P3D in a different direction than the tech improvements that were made to ESP/TS2 for Flight - and there's nothing wrong with that. P3D is a great platform.

Aimee (DTG) clarified this back in August. Their mention of MS flight technology did not mean MSFlight, specifically, rather more generically MS flight simulation technology. So it still could be based on Flight, FSX or sorta a hybrid approach to both. My guess would be the latter. We should know for sure with the coming announcement.

Hi guys,

Just to clear things up a little, we do not have plans to bring DFS to XBox at this time.

Additionally, "Flight technology" is in reference to MS flight simulation technology, and isn't specific to any one title.

If you have any further questions, please forward them to our Steam forum where our community team will be happy to help: http://steamcommunity.com/app/314160

Apologies for any confusion,

My guess would be a hybrid, perhaps using Flight as a base and building FSX features on top. I remember asking them a similar question and was told that their deal includes both FSX and Flight. I'd look for the comment, but it's buried deep in one of their Facebook posts from many months back.

That'd be great, and IMHO could possibly lead to a superior product compared to P3D (in terms of visual capabilities and performance). I hope so.

"Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

I think that Jimmy has nailed it.......an open world simulator based on MS Flight technology that will be slowly populated with DLC/addons.

No.

I don't mean to be rude so please don't take this as such, but what brings you to that conclusion, what information do you know that nobody else does?

I think that since MS Flight was not a "whole world" flight sim, I don't know if DTG will put out a fully flyable world.

Wouldn't they instead want to roll out a lot of "world region" DLCs for people to buy on top of their game?

If you want to fly the north pacific...you can buy that DLC.

If you want to fly Alaska...you can buy that DLC.

etc.

Isn't that want they do with their train sim? You buy lines?

Hopefully,  DTG has had the time to have already produce a lot of simple airplanes, simple regions, etc, so when they offer their flight sim, hopefully we will have a good amount of DLCs to buy immediately.

I hope DTG offers a full (whatever that means, lol) flight sim, but I am not holding my breathe that we will see another FSX type of sim - out of the box. But we will learn more in a couple more weeks...I hope.

I am excited, but tempering in my expectations. :-)

But the add-on developers have never been the simulator developers. Time will tell...........

Indeed I have Ray. And look where it all ended up. In spite of MS statements to the contrary there was much creditable speculation at the time of withdrawal that sales were just too poor to support further DLC development. And I'll say again, DTG is in the DLC business, not the business of developing flight simulators. DTG will be fine for eye candy and bombs but I still firmly believe that they will do little to improve the actual simulation of flight.

Doug

I just know what I read Tom. Understand that I'm talking about the simulation of flight not the creation of eye candy and adventures. As I've said above, DTG is in the DLC business, not the business of developing flight simulators. Time will tell.....

Morning all.

My speculation is as follows..

Firstly, DTG originally talked about Microsoft's flight technology ------ with a small f!

Secondly, DTG is a gaming company ------- Trains & Fishing

Thirdly, DTG releases their products through Steam ---------- Largest gaming distributor around, with the largest gaming target market.

It is obvious that DTG needs to monetise whatever they will release. It should be more obvious that, simmers are actually a minute part of Steam's market, with gamers being the majority.

It makes sense that the gamer target market  would then be where the money is, for DTG, Steam & the DLC developers.

Or not?

Remember, no matter what we think, or demand, these guys are answerable to their shareholders, not us! (as seen when Microsoft dumped Flight!)
