Need help installing WideClient to Prepar3dv3

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I have installed FSX and Prepar3dv3 on separate drives on my main computer.

I have installed wideclient on my other computer (client).

When I run FSX on the main computer and exe wideclient on the client computer

it connects straight away...No problems....

But the opposite happens when I run Prepar3dv3...Waiting for connection...

This is what I did with prepar3dv3.... I installed the prepar3dv3 SDK on both computers.

I placed the SimConnect.xml and cfg files into the appropriate prepar3dv3 files...

Both files have the IP address of the main computer, IPv4 protocol, IP address and port 9700.

Now this is where I get confused, on the client computer there is a SimConnect.cfg file

which wideclient uses to connect to FSX.

Can I use this SimConnect cfg file to connect to prepar3Dv3 as the info is exactly the same.

or do I create another Simconnect,cfg file and change the port number...perhaps

With prepar3dv3 running on the main computer and you start wideclient on the client computer,

how does wideclient connect to prepar3dv3...is it the ip address, port number etc...

The latest FSUIPC is installed in both simulators..

Look I am no computer wizard, I have probably overlooked something simple, but I would appreciate

some advice on solving my problem...

Thanks

Robert

You will need a SimConnect.xml in roaming (i.e. C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3)

Example of contents:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0">
  <Descr>SimConnect Server Configuration</Descr>
  <Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename>
  <Disabled>False</Disabled>
  <SimConnect.Comm>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol>
    <Scope>global</Scope>
    <MaxClients>64</MaxClients>
    <Address>192.168.1.130</Address>
    <Port>4506</Port>
    <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize>
    <DisableNagle>True</DisableNagle>
  </SimConnect.Comm>
  <SimConnect.Comm>
   <Disabled>False</Disabled>
   <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol>
   <Scope>local</Scope>
   <MaxClients>64</MaxClients>
   <Address>127.0.0.1</Address>
   <Port>4507</Port>
   <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize>
   <DisableNagle>True</DisableNagle>
  </SimConnect.Comm>
</SimBase.Document>

To diagnose connection issues you can place SimConnect.ini in docs (i.e. C:\Users\Rob\Documents\Prepar3D v3 Files)

[simConnect]
;level=none
level=verbose
console=0
;RedirectStdOutToConsole=1
;OutputDebugString=1
file=D:\simconnect%03u.log
;file_next_index=0
;file_max_index=9

On the client and FS computer SimConnect.cfg in documents (i.e. C:\Users\Rob\Documents) looking something like

[simConnect]
Protocol=IPv4
Address=192.168.1.130
Port=4506
MaxReceiveSize=4096
DisableNagle=Yes

Make sure you have all the necessary SimConnect clients installed:

Hi Rob

Thanks for the quick response..

I did as instructed, even changing the port number to 4056

On both of my computers the 3 undermentioned files are the only ones I have installed..

MFS SimConnect client v 10.0.60905.0

MFS SimConnect client v 10.0.61259.0

MFS X Acceleration SDK

I don't have MFS SimConnect client v 10.0.61242.0

Also on both computer I have installed Prepar3dv3 SDK

Do I need this file ?

I noticed you have these files installed

M/S ESP 1.0 SDK

M/S ESP SimConnect Client v 1.0.20.0

Do I need to install these files ?

On both computers the firewall is turned off and so is the anti virus.

On the client computer I changed the SimConnect.cfg and the WideClient.ini file to port 4056

Hopefully I can get it connected soon...

Robert,

Those were just samples from my PC, your IP and ports maybe different.

As far as SimConnect clients needed that will depend on the 3rd party products you have installed ... to cover all bases you can install them all (check the redist dir under P3D for installers).

You don't need SDK.

If you use the SimConnect.INI example above that will output a log file (in my example to D:\Simconnect.log) you can look at for possible clues to the problem.

Cheers, Rob.

EDIT: I assume you have the latest FSUIPC installed into "Modules" folder under P3D?

He does not say he has FSUIPC installed into P3D, so I guess WideFs is not running when he runs P3D and Wideclient does no9t have anything to connect to.

AFAIK WideFs/Wideclient do not really need Simconnect.
