Everything I try to get closer to the real rhing, ATC starts nagging. Turn left, turn right, climb, descend. I used iFMS, the Honeywell fms gauge to calculate vnav, and lnav, and ATC won't even let me fly those routes. So I end up shutting it off. "Recalculating, turn left at the next intersection " BUT I DON'T WANT TO GO TO THE DENTIST! I'M GOING TO MY BROTHERS! "Recalculating". I think it's time to consider an ATC addon.

Good luck with that. Most ATC add ons are weak in one or more area. The worst to me are the voices. They sound horrible. The default ATC sounds so good compared to the 3rd party offerings. They sound like a robot at best. Some people like PROATC X. You can watch a video on YouTube to get an idea. I believe it's all ICAO phraseology so if you're outside the US then it'll be good for that. It won't generate ATIS though.

 

I had Radar Contact before (version 4) and it was terrible. No ground communication. Terrible voices package, various unrealistic expectations and pathetic vectoring if you needed it. I believe PROATC is not a good vectoring app either but expects you to stay on a STAR for approach. It'd be nice to have decent vectors on occasion. Not all airfields have STARs and many flights deviate from a STAR for vectoring.

 

I think you'll find that the ATC market is really lacking. YMMV

Only maintain contact as you need to, or ATC will keep advising you, otherwise do as you want. FSX ATC is misunderstood, it's basically relating the simulation situation, active runways, to you as you need it. ATC adheres to the .PLN loaded and only by the sim navdata, not the AIRAC you have loaded in the plane. If you are heading to a transition in the .PLN, then ATC will head you there, and advise the active runway, you can choose another if required, then break off and fly the STAR.

When I beta tested proflight 2000, I took into account the robot voice and changed my inflection when I recorded my voice for the app. Not so monotone, and it worked. I thought having the same .plan in both FS and fms would make atc follow better, but it still deviates from the plan using FS nav data. Wonder if VATSIM controllers "adlib" altitude changes, or leave it to the aircrafts capabilities to climb and descend and hit that mark?

It doesn't know what you got in the FMC. Sooner or later it will deviate from your plan if you let it as you get close enough for vectoring, so ignore it until needed.

Never had any problem with any ATC following my own flight (Default (With FSeditvoicepack), PFE, or ProATC-X), the nagging was AI being vectored all the time, when they should also be following their own FP's especially UT2 traffic which is designed to fly their own flightplans. With the latest update to PROATC-X (v17.20) I find that works best for me now. AI now appears to fly their own FP's without ATC vectoring during cruise phase as they should.

It's waypoint by waypoint identical to the plan running in flight sim. But no matter, still just ignoring atc, though don't try this with your instructor sitting shotgun. Lol

Yes, make the FMS waypoint for waypoint identical to the .PLN for best results. The .PLN can be loaded with user waypoints where there are not corresponding waypoints in use from the ARAC. ATC is not real ATC it's just a tool.
