Aerosoft Amsterdam X takes up to 800MB VAS usage when on approach, how to fix?

Recommended Posts

Soo when flying into EHAM vas can shoot up from 3,2 GB to 4,0 GB with all the consequences (ctd). I have traffic at 30% although it's still quite busy. Ground Traffic is low and Vehicles (on highways) is on 40%. How do I fix this? When departing most of the time I don't have a VAS problem.

Thanks in advance!

There are so many factors.....remember that on approach you've got all of the memory baggage from your flight (assuming this is FSX and not P3Dv3).

What bird are you flying?  What is your LOD and max texture setting in the FSX.cfg file?  The quick path to OOM is LOD=6.5 and Texture=4096.  Keeping these at default usually helps quite a bit.

I have LOD at 4.5 and Texture at 1024, autogen at Few and not a single slider turned all the way up...

Not sure if there's much you can do to fix that, I think that particular scenery happens to be an extremely heavy and perhaps poorly optimized one. At least that's what I remember from when I last had it installed.

With the VAS at 3.2 going in the problem could be with what you have loaded before you get to EHAM. What other scenery are you using?

Orbx Global, Vector, OpenLC, ASN, REX 4 and some uk2000 and Aerosoft airports.

Edit: and WoAI with ALL packages but I use Traffic Optimizer

There's the problem. There is no way FSX will run those addons in high density scenery with the PMDG aircraft without an OOM. I'd try turning off Vector and see what happens. If that doesn't help try ASN next.
