The joy of flying with triple monitors.

Recommended Posts

Ha yes, I flew with a single monitor for about one month before I moved to three screens and Nvidia Surround. I would never be able to fly with a single monitor again. There is a slight fps loss (more noticeable over heavy autogen etc), but its a great feeling to scan the horizon, left to right while flying over the Amazon at sunset, for example.

Your vid looks great.

Do you use 1 wide view or 3 seperate views ( --> to avoid the stretching at the sides ) ?

I'm using over the last years a three monitor combination (left 22", middle 40" , right 22"), presently under P3Dv3.1 and with HD resolution, stretching the screen. My FPS are between 20 up to 60 and more (depends of used aircraft).

The idea behind that is following:

- Basis is the eyepoint mode (my eyepoint position in relation the the screens)

- Zooming the main screen (middle) to a value, where I can read the device indications like in the aircraft

- Additional information, which I need during from the left and right side is less important than from the center, it helps for better orientation

Ha. Funny to have found this.

I just gave up on triple monitor setup and the many annoyances it brings...

Just purchased a shiny new 34" ultra wide Dell that will be my main simming monitor from now on...

Yeh and I tried 2 x 34" curved and didn't work for me.  It has to be 3 x 16.10  30"  2560 x 1600 or higher.

Well, don't see why anyone would choose two monitors with the bezels straight in the middle of your face...

The video above looks nice, and I suppose angled correctly and with proper/patient setup it would be ok, but don't have room for that size atm, and I just really really liked the immersion of the single screen dell...

Also you're right about the height, I think 3 1080p's are way too short and "narrow" as total to make it nice. 1440p was really good, and thought about just getting a bit 4K tv, but that opens up another can of works about quality as a monitor, necessary GPU(s) to drive it, and bottom line I think the dell with it's size, resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio was my goldilocks solution, paired with a new 980Ti

Can't wait to start building it these coming days :)

Yeh you are correct the bezel in the center did it. I thought about getting a third one but I thought would be way to long and narrow, and would be impossible to correct the distortion without using the addon "WIDEVIEW"  my issue with the single  display is I like to turn my head left/right  and having a 160 degrees of viewing is the best for me. I absolutely hate Track IR  and that why I think for a desktop set up  3 displays is the way to go.

good luck with your new display.
