New Built for FSX/Prepar3d

Hello to everyone.

 

I'm going to buy my new computer exclusive for FSX and Prepar3d.

So, i read a lot, in a Portuguese Forum and heres in AvSim.

 

I would like to know what's your opinion about this:

 

- CPU: intel i7 6700k - 379€

- Mobo: Msi Z170A Pro Gamer - 150€

- RAM: Gskill RipjawsV DDR4 2800 (2x8GB) - 83,95€

- GPU: Gigabyte GTX970 Windforce 3x 4GB DDR5 - 339€

- MidTower: Corsair Carbide 100R Silent Edition - 58,70€

- Power Supply: Seasonic M12II 620W Evo 80+ - 96,95€

- SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB Sata3 - 152€

- HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm - 62,95€

- DVDRW: Asus DVDRW 24x - 12,95€

- Monitor: Dell S2715H 27" LED - 279€

 

It costs aprox. 1630€. I have a budget of 1800€.

 

I have some doubts:

 

1st: Buying GTX980 6GB instead GTX970 i will have more fps in the FSX?

2nd:i7 6700k with Z170 Mobo or 4790k with z97 Mobo? I will not going to overclock it for now.

Go for the 980 - that first one you list is weak - power supply I would go with more power thats just me - as for the rest looks ok 

 

Not sure on 6700k vs 4790k have not looked into that - just going to assume newer is better but do your home work on that

I think he can run Prepar3D fine with a 970. It's anything less powerful when P3D starts to struggle (I'm looking at you P3D clouds). Plus he might go overbudget with a 980.

I have a Titan X and still can use more on 5,000$ dual loop water cooling system - 980 ti would be a better choice why throw good money on something that will need upgrading and it will just my opinion of course

I have no clue honestly. In normal 1920x1080 resolution gaming, I've heard from several members that the GTX 970 is solid for P3D. If you want to go beyond that, then perhaps a 980 or 980 Ti will suit you better.

Its more about a fluid flight panning without stutters - nice AA - its not about fps - blow budget now or not be happy with your gpu that you could have put that money towards a real video card - your choice

• Not an alternative of ROG Series of Board - but not a bad choice - this would be better in your price range - maybe you can find it cheaper somewhere I did not do that search

Richard is correct that many opt for higher wattage PSU's. However, if on a budget, rest assured that 620 watts from a decent manufacturer will do it. Make sure you pay attention to the volts supplied on the 12 volt rail, or rails. Make sure it's adequate fro your card. Should be from Seasonic.

This PSU was recommended by a friend of mine. He told me that it should be enough to my system. But do you recomend other?

the gtx 970 is not weak and will do just fine if your on a budget if not of course the newer is the better, im running one (strix OC edition) and lets say with the worst weather and clouds ever it performs like its a sunny day!

the rest of your components are great , although if you go for a 750 psu it wont hurt.

 

as for the processors to get a good idea look up both the i7 6700k & 4790k and watch some videos im sure you will end up with a choice.

For a good idea of how much power your proposed system would use, take a look here: http://outervision.com/b/TMnQF2. I've assumed an air cooler for your CPU and a total of 4 fans in the case (cooler + case fans). You can edit the page if this is not correct. The Seasonic is an 80 Plus Bronze-certified PSU and, whilst OK, for just 100€ you could get an EVGA SuperNova G2 650W - 80 Plus Gold certified, very quiet, well reviewed and a 7-year warranty. Higher efficiency means less heat in your case and more stability.

970 weak? Sheesh - not everyone has a budget to get a 980 Ti...

 

970 is a powerful middle to high end card - it will be more than enough for FSX! Maybe not for 4K but fine with 2k or 1080p
