GTX960 2GB vs GTX970 4GB in FSX

Recommended Posts

There is a big price difference for sure but for FSX, not sure the performance is worth it. Will it really help having the 970?

If only running 1080p or 2560x1440 with medium AA, since FSX is so CPU limited, I would think the 960 would be plenty powerful enough, no?

Hi...

From my very recent experience going from a GTX570 to a GTX970 in P3D - - - really didn't see the massive improvement I was expecting - while it's a little better - so far I'm questioning my own investment...

Regards,

Scott

Picked up and installed a GTX960 last night, replacing my GTX560Ti.

Zero change in frame rate. Even with 1 main, 1 undocked window on 2nd monitor and 2 windowed views inside main, all netting ~5fps; no improvements in frame rate.

What is nice is the new DSR feature, zero fan rpm most of the time and the Surround ability.

I plan to pick up a 4k monitor very soon, so we'll see how FSX works and looks.

GTX970 is now in my system. As expected, no fps increase. Textures still black out and fill in. Basically I see no fps improvement over my 560Ti.

There may be an improvement in stutter and texture loading but need to do more actual flying to see if this is true.

Looks awesome in 4k btw.
