Where to buy Windows 7?

Recommended Posts

I'm having an issue with some Aerosoft Scenery and basically they say it was not tested with W10 so I'm stuck with a broken product.

I built my new computer over the holidays and saw the only OS I could purchase was W10.  I don't want to buy OEM but full retail.

Anyone know where to buy a retail copy of Windows 7?

No way of telling where you're from Sean, but US site actually has better bargains - good luck.

No problem Jude.  Appreciate your help.  It is sort of frustrating with the new PC Builds now that you have to scrounge to find Windows 7.  I bought W10 for my system once built but I'm out of luck getting my Aerosoft scenery to work with it.

I really wanted a retail version not OEM but looks like I have no choice but to go OEM.

What Aerosoft scenery is it? I have Win 10 and don't seem to have any issues.

If it'll run in 7 you should be able to get it to run in 10.  Typically just setting up to run as admin or something similar.

What scenery are you having problem?

I have many from Aerosoft and they work perfectly with Windows 10

Yeah, I doubt it is the scenery itself.

I'm finding Win10 more the culprit to crashes or issues.

I'm trying to use Nassau X. The scenery works but the Config Tool does not open. I'm also missing windows in the terminal.

I moved the config mgr over to my Windows 7 box and it works just not on my W10 sim computer.

support told me it's not compatible with Windows 10.

It's basically the same kernel as windows 7.

I see you ran as admin (in the Aerosoft Forums).

Have you tried setting the scenery applet to run in compatibility mode for Windows 7 (or XP)

Its quite long winded but I use Hyper V to run Windows XP.

You can install stuff that wont run then mount the virtual drive and copy the files into your real Windows.

Its all a bit trial & error though.

I've seen no problems with loads of stuff. But I've not got Nassau X. Could be a problem with permissions since running as admin only raises privileges and does not always guarantee permissions.

I would add the Modify permission to the Users group, on the sim program files folder, and on the Aerosoft program folder, then reinstall Nassau X and test.
