So I have a 1440p Monitor so now I need to try NO SGSS, 2X DSR, MFAA and 16 Ano?

OK, so I just tried it and it was extremely blurry, what level fo Smoothness should I use?

  • Hey Ron, why not just compare for yourself in the sim? Set 4xMSAA, then try different values of SGSS, won't take long. Use an A36 for setting SGSS, and use a B58 for setting without SGSS. Then when yo

Shouldn't be blurry. That seems like a small resolution has been chosen and is upscaled onto the monitor. Turn off DSR to start with set up AA, then add DSR 1.5x at first.

This is 1440p with 2x DSR and MFAA. 8x MSAA + 16x AF in-sim 24815807669_8c1294328b_c.jpg 24552829824_93f7845ff7_c.jpg 25065242352_8447e768a7_c.jpg25090262831_2f07e9de4b_c.jpg

Could you post simular screenshots with only 2x DSR + MFAA ?

To see if it looks as good without 8x MSAA...

@Steve,

At the moment I cannot use DSR as I have NVSurround enabled ( bezel correction )

Therefore I use 4x MSAA + 4x SGSS.

For me to try is MFAA without MSAA and without SGSS.

Is that correct or will MSAA make it even look better...?

Hi Gerard, you just set MFAA On in NVidia Inspector, get the latest version from the link near the bottom of the form. Set 4x MSAA in P3D Display settings and you get MFAA as a result, try with and without SGSS.

MSAA in sim is no longer "MSAA" it's MFAA

So it's 4k downsampled to 2k

Thanks Steve. Will do just that.

One question : the performance of 8x MFAA is about the same as 4x MSAA, but should be looking better.

If I set MFAA to On , I need to leave MSAA in P3D to 4x as I have SGSS at 4x.

Or can I set MSAA to 8x as it will be MFAA ?   ( is there also a link between MFAA and SGSS ) ...

...forgot to say that you still need to add SGSSAA when using planes like the A36, whereas the B58 only needs MSAA/MFAA.

That's why I was suggesting that FXAA+DSR might be a better option for some if the A36 type aircraft model is used. You can see very pixely behaviour with these when zooming out in the VC, compared to say the B58, true FSX model. By the way, mipmapping doesn't help with this poor anti-aliasing because it's a per pixel scaling issue in the transparency when zooming out the view. Whatever image is chosen from a mipmap, the pixel is the same size. Only SGSSA cures the problem, and post processing can work, FXAA and DSR, but not as well as SGSSAA.

Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

These settings paired with 2x SGSS is perfect for me. Minimal shimmering and good frames

You use MFAA + 2x MSAA

( SGSS needs to be the same )

Gerard,  switching on MFAA will enhance MSAA by 2x. thats if the game supports it and for Nvidia cards GTX900 +

So 4x MFAA ( MFAA NVI + 4x MSAA in P3D ) and 4x SGSS

5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 -  MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb -  Corsair 5400  case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set  - 3x 75’ TCL tv.

FOV : 200 degrees

My flightsim vids :  https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

So 4x MFAA ( MFAA NVI + 4x MSAA in P3D ) and 4x SGSS

MFAA..on... will give 2x(4 xMSAA in p3d) = 8xMSAA in P3D .. thats the way I read it.

or..............................2X(2xMSAA in P3D) = 4xMSAA in P3D

has this been confirmed by LM that MFAA is programmed  to work in P3D.

Bob, and what SGSS to use then ?

Bob, and what SGSS to use then ?

as Steve suggested.. " try with and without SGSS. " ie  try 2x or 4xsgss
