MFAA and P3D - works great in the new drivers

Featured Replies

DSR seems to create even more shimmering for me, don't know why. Tried 1.5x and 2.0x and it seems it gets worse the higher I go with the resolution.

I'm talking about shimmering in the scenery and lights, the VC seems fine.

Try increasing the smoothing percentage. Or use SGSS 2x via inspector.

  • Hey Ron, why not just compare for yourself in the sim? Set 4xMSAA, then try different values of SGSS, won't take long. Use an A36 for setting SGSS, and use a B58 for setting without SGSS. Then when yo

Increasing smoothing seems to cause everything to be blurrier? SGSS2X is already on with MSAA2x and MFAA on.

Make sure your dynamic reflection is turned off.

The only time the can become an issue is if you go over low. And if you have a GPU that just plain can't handle it

So Beau from LM posted a bug with dynamic reflections after 3.1 release, fix coming with 3.2 that fixes AA causing shimmering and jaggies. so does that mean your advise is to leave it on?

As long as you keep it at low or off you should be fine.

Hey, that's my setting! :-) Even hardware is the same. MFAA did not do any visible against scenery shimmering or AA in VC of Carenado airplanes.

Those threads are quite misleading and helpless. The thing is that either LM should re-write AA completely and it's NVidia's job to take an effort to adopt its drivers to P3D

This thread has been brilliant, my sim has never looked better. Yes, you need to make the effort and find what works best for you, probably has taken me about half an hour in total over a couple of days.

It's been beaten to death since the day V2.0 was released. SteveW has documented AA issues very well in many threads. For now in order to eliminate jaggies you literally have a choice of either SGSAA x2/ x4/x8 or DSR...and get of good video card for a sake of your nerves and healthy vision. All other minor stuff such "I just found the new drivers got me 5000% FPS boost" does not deserve attention. The problem is much more fundamental that just a "new driver"

"8XMSAA P3D UI... 2XSGSS NVI"

Do AA sample differences make an image quality difference with P3D? Maybe with certain cards?

It's easy to test SGSSAA with MSAA, start with a reset profile:

Set 4x Transparency Sparse Grid Supersampling with Nvidia Inspector.

Start P3D

Set 8xMSAA in Display settings

Load the A36, go to the VC, zoom out and in

Set 2xMSAA in Display settings

zoom out and in

Set 4xMSAA in Display settings - whoa!
