MFAA and P3D - works great in the new drivers

Featured Replies

Correct me if I'm wrong but MFAA is not a form of anti-aliasing that can be executed by itself, which means setting MFAA on in the control panel and then not setting any MSAA in game will actually do nothing.

Correct, I'll clarify my single test case

P3D: 2X MSAA

NI: Enhance Application settings

NI: 2X SGSS AA

NI: MFAA = On

P3D: delete shaders

Res: 3840 x 2160

I'll testing later without SGSS AA.  Also need to test without SLI enabled.

Cheers, Rob.

  • Hey Ron, why not just compare for yourself in the sim? Set 4xMSAA, then try different values of SGSS, won't take long. Use an A36 for setting SGSS, and use a B58 for setting without SGSS. Then when yo

  • Tested and, imho, MFAA not work with P3D.   GTX980.

It's true that "Fogged In" default theme is quite resource intensive. ASN Next is more merciful in drawing foggy situations in the sim. My biggest issue with SGSSAA is overcast. Once you have more than 5 layers of overcast, be prepared for 11-13FPS while approaching the clouds' front (FPS tend to stabilize once you inside or below the front). Neither i7-6700k oc-ed to 4.7 nor GTX980Ti help here :-(

I have the same Rig as you and the same OC.

I can agree with you, I cannot use 4XSGSS in the clouds, my FPS is just awful. I can only get away with 2XSGSS. I really wish there was like a 2.5SGSS becuase 4X is just too much.

You'll need a Maxwell GPU.

Here 4x MSAA + MFAA + 4x MSAA

No framerate issues with 4 cloud layers on 3 monitors ...

Because : I have resized the smallest Softclouds to 50% of their size ( sharpened them too before saving )

MFAA is not even in my Nvidia Control panel with latest drivers. Only in NI.

That seems like we have different options as well

GTX970´s here

970 is a Maxwell GPU so it should be there under Manage 3D Settings >Global Settings/Program Settings.

I have a 970 as well.

I meant : without SGSS,  MFAA is not functional for me in P3D.

Its because i had SLI enabled in NVControlpanel. Have to disable it if i want to use Global MFAA=on
