September 28, 200520 yr .NET is the future of Microsoft application development... full stop. I would expect to see lots of .NET use in future releases of MSFS. The voices that castigate .NET are the same one that castigated Java. Microsoft has bet the farm on .NET and it will be a major part of Windows Vista and the applications that target that OS/platform.If you don't believe me, look at the thread that mentions job postings for the MSFS development team. .NET development is one of the requested skills. September 28, 200520 yr "That TAWS, Approch maps, Weather link and so on would be great to implement on the MFD in the Eaglesoft Cirrus SR-20 ! *hint*"Of course the features you mention and OTHERS that you have not mentioned are either planned or in development.:-) The groundbreaking, first ever for Flightsimulation, Avidynes in our Eaglesoft product line do not use the same techniques decribed at length by others here. While we have high regard for such techniques and the people who develop and use them...it should be pointed out there other techniques being developed by talented individuals and as some here mention....64 bit, .Net in new ways, etc.We can hardly wait to see what MS has for us all in the future:-)

You remember SimSystems>FSFlight Max and the Garmin GPS ? And Fermin Fernandez (Tweak>FS)Yes, I remember John Hnidec and SimSystems. He's the guy who sold me the FSGarmin...then turned it into abandonware and bailed out amid a smokescreen of fictitious references to some make-believe anonymous buyer that was going to support his dysfunctional product for the legions of suckers that bought into it. Lies...half-truths. A true ripoff. Bringing up his name in this forum is an abomination. Jean Luc stuck with it...produced...supported. Hnidec is nothing short of a world-class cop-out. September 28, 200520 yr I third it! Fantastic!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
September 28, 200520 yr Yep, working great, no FPS impact that I could detect.Another fine gauge from RXP!Best,Martijn
September 28, 200520 yr This gauge doesn't work in the VC of the Baron?I think I read that over at the RXP forums. Did I misunderstand what I read?http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=13632&PN=1 Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
September 28, 200520 yr Hi,That's correct. It has nothing to do with the gauge itself but with the way the VC of the Baron (and a few other VC's for that matter) is created. All the gauge locations in the VC are 'cut out' so to speak and there is no 'cut out' available for the ST3400.Well, you could use the 'cut out' of the SN3308 in the VC but then you have the ST3400 instead of the SN3308. September 29, 200520 yr Because of some FS limitations, especially with lighting, model designers are sometimes making choices that "fixes" the size/shape of the gauges in the VC, in the form of cookie-cut polygons.Because of this, displaying a square gauge in a round spot...We all certainly hope that the next version of FS will offer better choices in this department. Mind you, some aircraft don't use this technique and are just plain fine!Hope this helps!
September 29, 200520 yr Commercial Member >Lies...half-truths. >A true ripoff. >Bringing up his name in this forum is an abomination. >Hnidec is nothing short of a world-class cop-out. >same folder as Peter Tishma.I thought making the above ludicrous and defamatory comments about someone without direct evidence was in breach of part (A) of the AVSIM forum rules of conduct?I think even he would agree that releasing the FlightMax and Garmins as unsupported freeware (not quite the same as "abandonware" as some call it, but that's their choice) would be upsetting to some. Also the freedom of choice to support or not a particular developer is self-evident.However, directly calling someone a liar and a cheat in a place like this is entirely another matter. September 29, 200520 yr Hi Bob,none of us knows the details and reasons of John Hnidecs temporary absence from the sim world and his closure of Sim Systems. I learned to know him (in the FSFM and FSGarmin support forum and private e-mails) as a very friendly and gentle person to cummunicate with, open to ideas and suggestions and dedicated to the improvement of his products and his customers. His products were quite innovative at their time, and didn
September 30, 200520 yr I guess there is a misconception here about the point I made about .NET and gauge performance!Believe me, .NET is very nice a development and run time environement. However, I can also assure you, and this is not in the same league as bashing Java, that TrueGauge XP the technology driving the latest DreamFleet Baron 58 Reality XP KI256 ADI and KI525 HSI, and True Display XP, the technology the Reality XP EFIS screens (Jet Line 2/4, Sandle SN3308) could not be as fast as they are in a managed environement.More specifically, the entire SN3308 screen, when configured with full map navaids display + airspaces + hundreds of strikes + complete compass rose + all the displayed information about the navigation (distance to next wayoint and such) can render roughly up to 100 times faster than if rendered in GDI+.This means that it takes LESS time to render an entire cluttered SN3308 screen, than for FS to blit a stack of bitmaps making up a gauge to the screen... it is THAT fast and "fluid"!Hope this helps!
