Autopilot Buttons Indicator Lights

Recommended Posts

I notice the Autopilot buttons do not illuminate when pressed to indicate on, are they supposed to illuminate? or am I missing something.

Cheers, Trevor

While Collins does make a FGP with two white LED on either side of the button that illuminates when the function is on, I have never seen this FGP in the King Airs. (Not sure if this FGP is for a different type of aircraft or if it is an optional upgrade. The Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Base Manual for the King Air shows the FGP with the LED lights.)

Mode activation on the King Air FGP is confirmed by proper FGS symbology on the Pilot and Copilot's PFD.

There are no LED/lights on the FGP in the real aircraft. Neither the C90 nor the 350i have any indicators on the FGP. Here's a photo:

Even among Beechcraft there are four different part numbers for the FGP-3000. 822-1107-012, 822-1107-102, 822-1107-103, and 822-1107-112. There is also part number 822-1107-104, 822-1107-110, and 822-1107-116.

Not sure what part number Collins is referring to in this line diagram from their Pro Line 21 Operators Manual for the King Air and I cannot remember what aircraft I saw this in. It was not installed in any King Air I have flown...

The number of errors in documentation on real aircraft seriously boggles my mind.

I take images provided within documentation with a grain of salt.
