UTX USA and ORBX

Recommended Posts

Question:   Does UTX USA play nicely with ORBX?  I noticed that UTX does a better job of renditioning my local area than does ORBX.  I'd like to install it as long as it doesn't conflct.

Thanks.

Depends on what specific product you're talking about. There's no such product as "ORBX", that's the company name...

I've never had a problem running both along with GEX.

According to Allen at UTX, it should work okay with any FTX region - http://www.simforums.com/forums/question-about-utx-with-ftx_topic55060.html (might need to be registered and signed in to view).

I use UTX USA, Canada and Alaska with the Orbx products for these regions (FTX Global Base, Open LC Canada/Alaska and all the FTX NA regions) without any major issues that I have noticed, although North America is a huge area and there could of course be issues in areas in which I have never had a flight!. As with UTX Europe however, which I also use with all the various Orbx/FTX addons, I tend to disable the UTX landclass files although I am not sure if this is really necessary as my Orbx scenery is situated above my UTX scenery in the scenery library.

I do use UTX Alaska so I was wondering about USA..I installed it today, and I like it, but I do see abrubt stops in flight for about 3 seconds which I've never seen before.  Otherwise I like the roads and the more accurate depiction of my home town area.

I had actually purchased the various UTX products quite some time before the Orbx/FTX ones came on the scene. When FTX Vector appeared however, it initially appeared to be associated with quite a few problems, so I decided not to buy it and to stick with the vector data from UTX, which, as you say, generally appears fairly accurate.
