Will Ground Environment 2006 run in Win 10?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I've had to post this question here since the developer will not give me a straight answer. I'm also considering World And Mosaic V2, same question goes... Any clarifications/comments are appreciated.

I doubt anyone has installed this product into Windows 10 as many have updated to the latest and greatest version so I think your only option would be to try the install it yourself.  GEX replaces the default fsx textures with optimized textures and I would make sure you have FSX SP1 and SP2 installed OR Acceleration as those programs update textures too.  I know of no programs made for FSX that will not work in Windows 10.  Windows 10 does have a lot of security and you will need to disable UserAccessControls (type User Access in the Windows 10 search bar and then look up and click on "How to Change User Access Controls".  When open, pull the slider all the way down to disable it).  I would also disable any anti-virus and malware programs you might have installed too.  When you install the program, right click on the installer and select Run as Administrator.  I think GEX was one of the first programs to be released after SP1.  UTX came around that time too.  It was exciting times...

EDIT:  I just noticed I was in the FS9 area.  It should work with FS9 too if the product was made for FS9.

Best regards,

Thanks, Jim. Your reply was much more positive than the developer's:  'Not sure about this. You might try it and see'. (As if money grew on trees...) To clarify, the product shows Win XP as its platform, hence my question to the developers.

Good luck!  The security in Windows 10 really makes installing products made from earlier OS's more difficult to install and get to work properly but, I think if you follow my suggestions you will have no problems.

If your copy of ground environment 2006 is using the Flight1 wrapper then I doubt if it will work.

F1 wrapper seems not to work in W10

HAPPY ENDING!!!

Installed FScene, very pleased with the results. Then installed BirdsEyeView (BEV), even better.

The best part is that the BEV texture settings have been ported WORLDWIDE.

Don't know how, don't care. I'm good to go! Flying, that is
