September 30, 200520 yr I just purchased this product tonight and put it through it's paces and man the performance is below some of my freeware. It's a great plane, and after tweaking with the config manager I can't get consistant performance without stutters etc. I've since cured the stutters in the past but this plane brings them back. Anybody have any suggestions before I ask for a refund. I'd really like to keep it, but after flying PDMG737ng with good performance I don't want to go back making a lot of changes. I was so looking foward to using this baby to ferry me in from Galveston to KIAH to my virtual job flying B737s for Continetial Airlines :(Well maybe the Cessna 337 from FSD may do the trick
September 30, 200520 yr It's been a real dog on my system no matter what I do. I have given up with their products. September 30, 200520 yr if you guys have hyperthreading, turn it off before you load the plane.get into fs (create a flight screen) and minimize. bring up the task manager and then processes tab. find FS and right click and hit set affinity. uncheck CPU 1. then go back in the sim, and load the meridian. should work fine!hope that helps Image Coming... September 30, 200520 yr if you do what I said, it will work fine (that is if you have Hyper Threading).btw, i get better fps/performance with PMDG737 too... Image Coming... KregE | B757/767 FO
September 30, 200520 yr >that doesn't make sense, how could the NG be a better>performer? The Meridian is an original FS2002 product that was patched for FS2K4. Maybe this explains it. I'am flying this bird all the time and have a real smooth experience, not stutters at all...
September 30, 200520 yr Yep, you need to do what pd400 says. It's the 16-bit Garmin GPS on the Meridian that's causing the slowdown if you have hyperthreading enabled. So turn off HT in the BIOS or in task manager before you fly this plane, otherwise you'll be looking at a slideshow! September 30, 200520 yr The Meridian is a 2003 product that performs very well in knowing some of the limitation of that time. The GNS 530XP included in the Meridian is v2.x, while the latest Reality XP GNS 530XP is v5.x. The difference between the two is HUGE thanks to the new GnsCore XP technology. The Trainer is not an issue at all with GnsCore XP and take little if non ressources now. More about this here:http://www.reality-xp.com/products/GNS/index.htmHaving said this, you can follow the recommendation posted here:http://www.reality-xp.com/support/knowledgebase/1006.htmand then this one:http://www.reality-xp.com/support/knowledgebase/1009.htmHope this helps!

I do have a HT enabled system and with a 16bit app running in the background that could slow things down a bit...with the WOW or thunking involved; for an 16bit app on a 32bit system. (I could have those terms wrong...hehe been a while since I had to live and breath them ;) )I'll give this a shot tonight; I really want to keep this plane...been eyeing it for over a year. BTW I went and bought the FSD Cessna 337 last night too! and all I can say is WOW!!!!! :9 :D talk about supper smooth in the VC (31 fps, I have mine locked at 40)It just feels great. I would love to use the Piper for longer range GA flying then jump into my 337 for bush flying ;)
September 30, 200520 yr "with a 16bit app running in the background that could slow things down a bit...with the WOW or thunking involved"While it is true in general, it is no longer true with GnsCore XP that takes care of this for you! (in the Reality XP GNS 430XP/530XP v5.x)In fact, with GnsCore XP, the Garmin Trainer is managed to take less ressources than many other third-party vendor background running applications, and, most reports show that the new Reality XP offering runs better than the default, or any derivative of, XML based FS9 GPS.Even with the "tweaks" linked above, this won't be as significant with the 2003 Meridian and GNS v2.x though.Hope this helps!

I just don't want to spend 24-35 more bucks just to fly the meridian at this moment in time. I will admit after reading and viewing there material it seems that they are addressing the problem with the garmin trainer well. Would be better if garmin would just update their software for more modern OS's but this seems to be a good solution.
