Pre Purchase Questions

Recommended Posts

I am considering buying the Phenom300 and have a few questions.

1. Using the base aircraft with Navigraph add-on:
In reading the threads here, there is mention of problems with the Navigraph add-on. However, all are related to versions 1.1 and 1.2.  I didn't notice any comments about version 1.3.  Does 1.3 fix most issues? Does the Phenom G1000 import FSX flight plans or must one program the flight plan manually?

2. Using the GTN750:
If I elect to go the GTN750 route, do I get Bert's mods in the AVSIM library or are they only availble directly from Bert?   If using the GTN750 does the Navigraph add-on add any useful functionality?

I can help out a little here as I only have the Phenom 100 - but its getting some decent reviews

You cant import a flight plan into any carenado aircraft and thats not going to change anytime soon

You have to send a pm to Bert and he is excellent about getting right back to you - his support is superb

Not sure if you can import a flight plan into GTN but I doubt it

Hello

Does 1.3 fix most issues?

Yes it does.

Thanks to Bert's GTN mod, I got both flavors. A couple liveries with the Navigraph Addon, and the rest with the GTN 750's

If using the GTN750 does the Navigraph add-on add any useful functionality?

No it does not, except Navigraph upgradable databases (not used by the GTN's)

I'm using it because I had already payed for it before getting the GTN's

Not sure if you can import a flight plan into GTN but I doubt it

No you can't.
You can save up to 99 flight plans per gauge.
And no crosfill yet.

Edit to clarify.

Just to clarify, the navigraph extension does nothing useful for the GTN version (Upgradeable databases from Navigraph do not work for the GTN).

If installing the GTN mod, you have to un-install the Navigraph extension first if it is installed.

You can, however, use the GTN and Navigraph version side by side, as mentioned above.. and some have reported success with installing the Navigraph extension, after installing the GTN mod.

This question may be premature inasmuch as I don't have either the aircraft of Bert's mods yet, but . . .

How do you install both versions and run them side by side if you have to uninstall Navigraph in order to install the GTNs?

OK, lets get technical...

Start with the base package,  install the GTN mod,  now you have side by side

versions of Carenado G1000 and Flight1 GTN.  You can select and fly either.

Some have successfully added the Navigraph extension at this point, to upgrade

the Carenado G1000 version.

The GTN version does not care.

Richard:

You'll be glad to know that you can load an FSX flight plan into the Phenom 300.  Things may be improving at Carenado.

Does 1.3 fix most issues?

I am not sure what issues you are talking about.  I have v1.3 and you still cannot install the Navigraph addon or the Phenom 300 directly into P3Dv3.1 as it does not recognize it.  You still have to point the installer to P3D's directory but the files required for installation will be place on C:\Program Files (x86)\Carenado Installer.  From there you simply move the files over to the appropriate directory where P3D is installed.

I use the Phenom 300 with most of my flights now and have some problems entering a flight plan but I eventually get mostly there.  For instance, entering the takeoff runway or the SID.  Sometimes it works, sometimes not.  Using the Proc key works better.

Carenardo has stated they will update all of their products to v2.0 and I hope this comes soon for Navigraph and the Phenom 300.

Also hope you saw the excellent review done here at AVSIM!
