Recommended Posts

Could someone help please. It installed to its own folder and nothing shows up in the sim. Thanks in advance.

A very good post as I'm having the same issues since they folded up.

Are you able to find the folder and see what's inside?  Can you add that scenery through the Scenery Library?

Sorry but I'm used to scenery defaulting to its proper location. This scenery, however, does not. I just need to know the default location for addon scenery in to FSX SE I guess.

I have the disks, not download.

It's probably either in AddonScenery or in the root of the FSX location.

You would then have to add this manually by going to scenery library then browse to the location where it downloaded - I think it's called Earth Simulations.

For each version you install (I have IOM and Gurnsey) you have to install, then uninstall, then reinstall the ESI software i.e. IOM  ESI will not install Gurnsey. Insert the disks and follow instructions. Make sure you select the correct paths. I installed into P3Dv3.1, so installing into FSX is a breeze.

Thanks Jude. That makes sense. I'll take a look.

I did not buy the disks, just the downloads, which I saved. So, how would I go about re-installing these? Do I just move the folders containing the scenery and texture sub-folders directly to the FSX-SE Addon Scenery directory?

You could probably do that, Rick. You would also have to manually add the entries to the Scenery Library, but I can give you a list of those if required.

Christopher to the rescue as always. Are any other files installed apart from BGL's?

Hi Christopher. Hope to meet you, one day, this year at RAF Cosford.

Tried to run the ES-Installer, but I guess as their website is now off the air, so to speak, that option will not work

Thanks for your input. Just checked that I had IoM installed, and it looks okay, but when I went to St Marys(EGHE) I'm seeing this:

StMarys2.jpg

I have GSX installed, as well as MyTrafficX, and GSX is referencing the ES bgl.

Windows 10 Pro + FSX-SE

EDIT: I thought Ronaldsway(IoM) was looking okay, I guess not from this:

Yes, there are multiple texture, sound and effect files installed usually to the folders with those names in the root sim folder.

There will also be the autogen description files which go in the autogen folder.  I would advise using Arno Gerretson's autogen merge utility which allows the use of multiple autogen description sets from different developers at the same time, else you will find that as time goes on and new sceneries are released, you will start to lose scenery details as the required ES autogen files may be overwritten.  This is NOT a failure of ES in the past, it was a design flaw by MS and ACES.  The link to Arno's utility is; http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forums/autogen-configuration-merger.147/

Your St Mary's is just missing an ground modification file called EGHE_StMarys_ALT.BGL which goes in the scenery/world/scenery folder.

Your IOM appears a little more borked. I'm not familiar with FSX-SE I'm afraid, but it looks as though there are a number of scenery folders which aren't active, so check they are correct as below first.

Your IOM Active scenery folders should be as follows;

ES-IOM-Langness

ES-IOM-Bungalow

ES-IOM-Airports\ES-EGNS-Ronaldsway

ES-IOM-Airports\ES-X9MR-MountRule

ES-IOM-Airports\ES-X9JU-Jurby

ES-IOM-Airports\ES-X9AN-Andreas

ES-IOM-Airports\ES-IOM-Helipads

ES-IOM-3D

ES-IOM-SFX

ES-IOM-TFX

ES-IOM-FX

ES-IOM-Photo

ES-IOM-Terrain

Cheers K

Wow, Kevin, what on earth would we, mere simmers, do without the likes of you and Christopher :im Not Worthy: :im Not Worthy: :im Not Worthy:

I'm indebted to you.

Many thanks. Will try that as soon as I have concluded a Majestic Dash8 Q400 as I'm trying to cram in as many hours getting to know this aircraft well.

That screenshot of EGHE St Mary's has a lot more wrong about it than just a missing ALT file, Kevin. The scenery looks nowhere near detailed enough for the ES version, so it seems that this package has as many problems as his ES Isle of Man screenshot seems to exhibit

@Rick - I look forward to meeting you at RAF Cosford this year. If you get there early, you will probably notice a solitary bloke waiting at the front door an hour before it opens. That will be me

Kevin, just looked in that link, but cannot locate that Autogen Merge Utility. Even looked under his tab.

Yes, hope so. Last year just as I was gearing up in August to attend, a pal calls me up and tells me he's booked me on flight to the Souther Hemisphere. Drat!

Double drat your observations of my entire ES package. Now, I am depressed! How can I rectify this mess?

What's missing from this?
