Recommended Posts

Hello all

This is the 3rd leg of my transatlantic trip from North America to Europe aboard the Royal Turbine.

From Reykjavik (Iceland - BIRK) to Sligo (Ireland - EISG), 864 nm

Hazy atmosphere while starting the engine in front of Hangar 1 at BIRK

Snowfall intensifies as we enter RWY 13

We quicky break through at about 8 000 ft (3  mn for a T-Duke)

Cruising at FL280, 300gkts+, somewhere betweeing Iceland and Faroe Islands

Approaching United Kingdom, we are assigned approach DME RWY 29 : we have to descend to reach 2 800 ft at our IF (D11 from SLG)

Approaching our IF, we break through the clouds

We are now following SLG radial 282° for a slightly offset approach right of the large hill of Knockarea. Add to this offset approach (5° to the North) a 28kts crosswind from the same direction, and you are almost looking through your left window to keep the RWY in sight

But we are safe on ground. Officially on the European Union territory after 3 legs.
