Crash reinstalling P3D

I wonder if someone can help me ( I am not a high tech guy) . I did a full uninstall to my prepared V2.5 following all the steps written on the forum then done a fresh download . Without installing any add ons or flights ( still the original download) once I open and  the screen comes with the default flight if I move anything ( mouse- yoke...etc) it immediately shuts down and that is it. I tried to remove and reinstall several times but I was unlucky. My prepared was working before but I decided to reinstall a fresh copy so I can reinstall the Opus camera system, 

 

Can someone give me some steps or direct me to where to solve this issue. My x-plane is working fine with no issues at all, only prepared 3d

Split from another topic to avoid confusion as the crash in the other topic was totally different from this crash.

 

You did not indicate system specs such as:

 

Windows 10; i7 4770K; GTX 780; 8GB's RAM; 34 inch monitor, etc.

 

From the AVSIM CTD Guide (see link in my signature):

 

AppCrashView (click to download) - when you get a CTD, a Windows Error Report (WER) is generated by Windows.  This report is not very detailed and Microsoft did not make it easy for you to find or interpret the report.  AppCrashView interprets the Microsoft WER reports and provides more details. If you post a CTD in the AVSIM CTD Forum, you should copy and paste the latest crash report in your topic or post.  Along with this, include your system specifications (if not already included in your profile).

 

Check the Windows 7/8 Event Viewer – The Windows Event Viewer can provide a wealth of information regarding your CTD or information about your crash that may not have been recorded in a Windows Error Report.  Plus there could be other problems being reported that need to be fixed that could be causing your application crashes. You can get to your Windows Event Viewer by clicking on the Start Button and, in the Search box, type Event and then look up in the Menu and click on Event Viewer or use the guidance at the following link - Opening Windows 7 Event Viewer. Windows 8 users should follow the guidance at the following link: Opening Windows 8 Event Viewer.  Once the event viewer is open, click on Custom Views and then Administrative Events (this provides all events from all Sources).

 

The Summary of Administrative Events will show you the various types of “Events”.  Critical (which should be fixed as soon as possible), Error, and sometimes Warning Events are what you should be interested in.  Administrative Events will show you everything that happened to your computer each time you turned it on and while it was running from the day you installed your Windows OS. 

 

If you find an error relating to P3D in the event viewer, double-click the error and a new window will be created.  This is the error report we need to see.  In the lower left corner click on "copy".  This will copy the error to the clipboard.  Now come back here and respond and then paste the error into your new post.

 

Without further information, as defined above, it is very difficult to determine what might have caused your crashes.  Hardware like throttles, mouses, and keyboards cause your system to crash as the hardware is not compatible with your version of Windows or not installed properly.  A driver update program like the one I use - Driver Booster - will search for outdated drivers and then download and install the new drivers.  This fixes a lot of problems.

 

If you installed P3D without disabling UAC or your anti-virus/malware programs, this could cause these problems too.  Disable any anti-virus or malware program.  This is all outlined in the pinned topic in the P3D Forum - http://www.avsim.com/topic/481623-my-link-thread/

Thanks for the info.  Here is a possible solution to the dinput8.dll error http://www.avsim.com/topic/465564-p3d-v25-ctd-dinput8dll/.  I suggested unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back into another USB port.  It worked.  That was for a Saitek controller. 

 

Most fixes are hit and miss.  I hope this suggestion works for you too. 

 

The event viewer report only shows that your computer was shutdown improperly.  Nothing serious as that happens occasionally.  I sometimes inadvertently turn off my computer without realizing it was it was on.  There was no other reason for the event.  I would not worry about it unless it continues to shutdown improperly without any action on your part.

 

I would also download and run a driver update program.  I use Driver Booster, a freeware program that scans your computer for outdated drivers and then downloads and installs the drivers.  The program has a lot of nags to try to get you to purchase it but it still does everything without buying -  http://www.iobit.com/en/driver-booster.php

yes I ran the updates and switched the USB's restart , once back pressed prepar3d icon started for 3 seconds and shutdown immediatly not sure what is going on. 

 

Wht about full c drive format and reinstall all from beginning ?

You have P3D installed in the default folder (x86) which is not recommended.  You must make sure you have UAC disabled and any anti-virus program as UAC could cause problems and your system may deny access to you as a User.  If you ever reinstall P3D, install it in a non-default folder like D:\Prepar3d v2.

 

Prepar3D v3.2 has been released.  You might consider upgrading but, going from v2 to v3 is $199 for a Professional license or around $50 if you meet the requirements for an Academic license.

 

If you have fsuipc installed, there's a file within the Module folder entitled fsuipc4 install and it checks the installation of P3D.  Make sure there are no errors.

 

DINPUT8.dll is part of Direct X runtime from Microsoft and a video card driver could be the issue too.  Not sure how to disable the internal Intel HD Graphics as that might be in conflict with your Nvidia GTX760 video card.  I suspect you can right click on the Computer Icon on your desktop and select properties and the select Device Drivers and then Display Adapters and disable the Intel HD Graphics OR goto your Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager > Display Adapters and disable.

 

You can also click on your Start button and type device manager and look up in the menu and click on Device Manager.

 

Also, try to check your DirectX and make sure there are no errors.  Click on the Start button and type dxdiag and then enter and then look through the tabs to see if there are any errors.

Dear Jim 

 

First of all thank you for jumping in and trying to help me with all these data . I was about to wipe my hard drive and start from scratch but it checked latest  software installed to see if that affected my sim. And yes it was the Plan G program which caused all these issues and resulted in 10 days of frustration . Once I deleted the program and done a restart everything was back to normal with no issues at all including my Saitek equipments  . Reaching that resolution was not going to happen without your help at all . I do appreciate your help 

 

A quick question which one do you recommend and easy install for prepar3d V 2.5 . EZ dock or Opus I bought both programs but none worked for me I will have to spend sometime on forums to find solutions but which one you recommend as I bought both

I'm glad you were able to find the cause of your crashes.  It's always great to hear someone has their sim back up and running.

 

In the P3D forum, there's a pinned topic on how to install v3.2 and all of the versions install much the same way.  If you are reinstalling P3Dv2.5, I would install it into a non-default directory which would be something like D:\P3Dv2.5.  You can name if D:\P3D too.  Some show the version so they know right away what version they have installed.  P3Dv2.5 is relatively old now.  I think Lockheed is going to follow the installations like Microsoft did when they were in options.  Microsoft released FS2000, then 2002, then 2004, then 2006.  Each version was a new product and you had to purchase each one.  Lockheed started out with V1, then V2 (did a bunch of updates), then to the latest, V3.  Probably, in two years, they'll update to V4.  If you can afford to buy V3.2, you should as it is getting some great comments from many.  I say this as you have to be very careful down with an earlier version.  PMDG for instance has products that work for just a certain version or you have to watch and make sure it states it is compatible with v2.5 thru v3.2).  If it states just v3.2 it may not be compatible and you will have to down load an earlier version.  Same goes with many of the other addons.

 

The P3D forum has a pinned topic that tells you how to install EZDOK into P3D.  Very well done.  I recommend you check Elaine's tutorial.  She did a great job.  I do not own OPUS so cannot advise on the correct procedures.  I know ASN is automatic and they install their own simconnect version too to make sure it works with their product.  I've heard good things about OPUS.  We have an unofficial forum here for OPUS and I see they just released a beta to their product - http://www.avsim.com/forum/577-the-opusfsx-forum/

Thanks for the advise I will look into prepar3d v3.2 I want to make sure it is compatible with my add ons

EZ Dok was a pain however opus was easy install and run ,the only downside that Opus doesn't, recognize the saitek pro yoke but configuring on the keyboard numbers was very easy

EZdok kept giving errors immediately so I will stick to Opus
