Recommended Posts

I'll never be able to buy razor blades at my local store again without thinking that behind the package lies a flighsimmer :))

LOL Sorry about the cost - have to pay for my simming hobby somehow

Desk side and on site support engineer. Basicly, I'm the IT guy at your office that helps you when:

- your laptop is not powering up -> I push the power button as it should be.

- your laptop screen is broken -> I lie to your boss and tell him you did not drop it but a big pink elephant came running thrue the room.

- your Excel crashes when opening some sheets -> I explain you that a 100MB large hidden workbook is not going to help.

- your Outlook is not receiving mails -> I tell you that your password has expired and you refused to change it in the morning.

- your printjob is not coming out of the printer -> get rid of the paperjam by following the instructions that this very same printer is telling you to do.

- tell you your laptop is end of life and can be replaced -> yeah!!!

- wipe your laptop when you got fired -> Doh!

- make fun of the funny userid you got from LDAP

etc... :)

I work in the city as a fInancial and business advisor to the UK transport sector (primarily rail).

Beyond that, i spend my free time raising my baby daughter. And beyond that (doesnt exist), i used to like flight simming......

(PS - I like these posts. Puts a sense of personality behind the message boards!)

How old is your daughter? Don't worry, you do get the time back eventually!

Yes 10lbs of crap in a 2lb bag - have size limitations on shelf and gets very frustrating working in those constraints - they are building 500,000$ forming tools from my models so has to be right - so far so good

Nice Joel - use to design replacement body parts also (mostly knee and and leg)

Great topic. I'm a software developer for applications used in genetic testing laboratories and clinics, a world apart from my hobbyist programming for flight simulation (I need to keep it interesting and use the hobby as a way to learn new stuff as well)  .

I work for the FAA at Ontario International Airport (California) and provide Air Traffic Controller training for 5 airports surrounding our geographical area. Controllers come to our Air Traffic Control Tower Simulator and we run them through all sorts of scenarios, much like a checkride in a Level-D FFS. KONT, KPSP, KCNO, KPOC, and KSAN. KSEE, KCRQ, KEMT are all being added now. Its a great job, I love our view from the parking lot and you really can't beat talking aviation all day.

Well for me 38 years as a B1 licenced aircraft engineer and have worked on pretty much every type out there probably easier to say what i've not worked on

In my earlier years nearly chucked it all as i was pretty good at track and could have made a good living especially after the fully open era came in

make fun of the funny userid you got from LDAP

This reminds me of an error I made in a system I wrote that assigns a unique 4 alphanumeric ID to a person whilst they are processed through the system. It assigned one person the "f" word as an ID, and this ID was used on letters and any future correspondences. (I think it's called sod's law)

Senior Clinical Application Specialist III is my title at a major health care organization in Dallas.  I know that's a generic title but I do a lot of things that they can't categorize me into one role.

Basically if there is an issue with the Electronic Health Record (EHR), I'm involved with resolving it.

In other lives, I've done everything from selling popcorn and ice cream at Disney World, to working on Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) gear on the SH-3 SeaKing Helicopter in the Navy.
