What's your day job?

Recommended Posts

I retired (I think of it as a commencement) after 46 years as an anchor/reporter at WBBM NEWSRADIO in Chicago. For 36 of those years I was our Restaurant Critic. For the last 15 years I was co-anchor of the WBBM NOON BUSINESS HOUR. I have been flight simming since the mid 1980s when it all began with a Commodore 64.

I am "retired" but worked in IT from 1963 to 2005. I have been a programmer, systems analyst, IT Manager and consultant, and then went into manufacturing since my degree is in Business Management. Spent a number of years splitting my time, at the same companies, between IT and Production Management & Purchasing.

We (AVSIM) have a lot of talented people participating in this "hobby".....thanks to all of you for your involvement.

My aircraft interest started when I was young and heard about Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart!!!!

18 years Toyota/Pontiac auto tech, 4 years with Eastern Mountain Sports retail stores, 5 years Independent sales rep, an out of work bum, and from 2000-2015...snow groomer, snow maker, plumber, carpenter, logger, and landscaper. Sprinkled about in all those years I fueled planes at KJBC, fixed PC's, taught rock climbing and outdoor wilderness skills.

Geez...I guess I did have ADD after all. No wonder my brain is toast.

Now...retired...and I really like it, especially when I can put down the saw, brush, rake, tape measure, whatever...and pour an ale.

Freelance journalist/writer/playwright/novelist. The pay is rubbish, but I do love the work. In my spare time, I work with my partner for her business. Usually driving and providing IT support. :)

I'm a long distance truck driver. Only get 2 days a week for simming but it's better than nothing :)

A look at my "cockpit".

Hey Kylan, nice rig (!) - as in truck - there are quite a few aviation jobs here, which surprises me.

By day I work as a classroom assistant and history specialist in a primary school in the UK, where I've done a lot of work over the years with some autistic children.

By night I write history books, I've been writing for 20 years, and my thirteenth, Food and Farming in Prehistoric Britain came out yesterday :) pick it up on Amazon ...

I am a CPA (Certified Public Accountant for those not familiar with the acronym), enjoying this fabulous time of year where I get to work 70 + hours per week. I spend most of my days doing personal and business tax returns, tax consulting, and other dandy stuff.

Cheers, Pete

Retired, began the aviation career as a 19 year old CFI. Enjoy flight sims now and like to use aircraft I actually flew in the working days.
