CYTZ - Billy Bishop by FSimStudios

Recommended Posts

Watching the weekly Frooglesim News I heard about FSimStudios making Billy Bishop....or as locals in Toronto call it...the Island Airport.  Took a flyer on it as I really like to fly the Q400 into the short runway.   Pleasantly surprised by the nice scenery, looks great, excellent on framrates and very true to the real world surroundings.  Thought I would recommend it here for those interested.  I have only installed in P3D but also works in FSX.

I was looking at perhaps purchasing it solely because I love the Q400. But any idea if there would be any conflicts with FlyTampa's CYYZ?

I should also say that generally when I fly into/out of Toronto I will disable the scenery I am not using so when flying to the island I would disable CYYZ.  I will have to try it to see if the Ferry Boat goes away.

A little bit out of date if there's a ferry boat there.  They have a tunnel there now.  By the way Simaddons (http://simaddons.com) from Switzerland has this airport modelled and he keeps things up  to date week to week, such as expanding Halifax main runway to new length and putting in Calgary's super long new runway   Beta members include Air Canada pilots, Puralator Courier pilot, and members of various users of airports across Canada, ie Medi-flights in Halifax and Yarmouth, and the latest edition Fredericton airport has a military helicopter crew member.  Tops in realism.   Anyone who flies in Canada should be investing in Simaddons.  Covers main airports coast to coast.  I might add there are versions for FSX, FSX Steam and P3D V2 and P3D V3.  Help is there every day for those with problems.  I love the additions to my home country and proud to be a beta tester of newly added on airports.

I was just the yesterday in person, and the ferry still operates, even with the tunnel.  Still need to get cars over there.

Cars? Where in the hell do they drive them?  That for the lazy ones who can't walk 100 feet?  Simaddons also has a amphibian lift to take the amphibs out of the water.

If only they'd sell their airports individually. I understand that if you divide the cost by the number of airports you get that they are priced pretty good. It's just if I only fly to a few of them, I don't want to buy a handful of other airports I'll probably never fly to.

This set is really designed for Canadian pilots.   If you're only interested in flying to Toronto (CYYZ) I'd suggest BluePrint's version.

Thanks for bring this to our attention Mark. Are you running it on P3d 3.3.5? Any issues? Being a T dot resident myself, I like to support any developers who take an interest in Toronto.

Well, I mean, people drive over, unload, etc... plus trucks have to get to the airport, unload food and all that.  They'll never get rid of the ferry.

I picked up this add-on recently and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Looks good and is easy on the frames. I had a small interaction issue with UTX Canada V2 (some duplicated downtown office towers) and Gabriel took care of me within a matter of hours (when arguably, it could have been a considered UTX problem). Excellent service and nice product!

I noticed that FSim Studios have released Ottawa's MacDonald-Cartier, as well. I may give that one a try with a Q400 Porter flight.

Thanks for the info on YTZ, Mark.

Cheers, Craig
