P3D crashed. No vehicles loading or control profiles.

Recommended Posts

Was about to get some "Before" screenshots for when I follow the mipmapping tut recently posted. All I did was copy the texture.common folder for the aircraft to a different HDD. Loaded up P3D and went into free flight with the aircraft. Within about 10 seconds the screen just goes blank. My comp had been acting up, so I thought it just needed a restart. Waited for P3D to close out and restarted. Now when I load it up, there's no vehicles loading on the vehicle screen, just the F-22. When I go into a free flight, there's no more profiles in FSUIPC for my controls where there were at least 4 a few minutes ago.

The heck just happened?

are you saying that the profiles in the modules folder are missing or just not showing? Not enough information. Could be any number of things from hardware failure to a corrupt file.

Well, I have no more FSUIPC profiles, which isn't terrible. I only fly one aircraft now, so I can redo the profile for it.

I don't understand what happened to all of the other vehicles in the game. When I go to the vehicle select, it just says Vehicles Loading or something to that effect.

Is there a log somewhere that I may post for more clarity?

So, in the modules folder there is nothing in the Profiles folder? IS the FSUIPC.INI file there?

You could try a repair install of P3D - run the client installer and select repair.

This is what's in the modules folder...

I will try the repair install.

Tried the repair, restarted, and ran P3D once again. Still sits at this screen when trying to select a vehicle. Google turns up nothing when searching this issue either.

Looks like it's hanging at loading the Avatar.  Have you tried deleting/renaming the prepar3d.cfg file and the dll.xml file?

Have not tried that. I'm at work for the evening, but will try that when I get home.

Try renaming the cfg file first.P3D will create a new one. If it works, you can add back any custom settings. Either rename the DLL.XML file or disable all the entries. Add them back one at a time until you find the load that is causing issues.

Tried renaming Prepa3d.cfg, no-go. Tried disabling everything in dll.xml one by one, no-go... :(

Still trolling through searches for this issue, but apparently I'm the only this has happened to lol

Well, next thing I would try - locate your simobjects.cfg file and start disabling the entries - I'm not at my system now but id there's a specific entry for avatars - disable that.  It seems like P3D is hanging on a corrupt file - trick is locating it.

Is there a special location for this? I'm not seeing it in any location where P3D items are....

Have you tried deleting the default.fxml & .wx startup flight?

Prepar3D_Default.fxml & Prepar3D_Default.wx located in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

Also delete Prepar3D.cfg located in %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

If those don't work, you might just consider a complete uninstall, wipe and reinstall.

Didn't work either. Starting the process of cleaning it off of my computer and reinstalling.
