Fix texture

Recommended Posts

I am wondering what setting I need to change that will effect how close I have to be for objects to sharpen up. Right now I have to be right next to a mountain or right above the ground for objects to clear up.

Are these things that need to be sharpened up Trees and buildings?  Close to a mountain....for the mountain itself to

come into focus or the objects on the mountain?  Is your Autogen slider at it's max position?  Scenery

Complexity slider maxed?

The mountains and hills itself and the ground rexrures. Auto-generated is at dense. Sceneey complexity max.

Maybe a faster system will get you objects sharper sooner, but I do not believe there is an FSX setting to change that.

FSX does not do a really good job with ground textures.  It loads things in blocks, so there is no way to eliminate ground objects from abruptly popping into the scene and the level of detail priority is hard coded into FSX, with cliffs/rocky surfaces being at the very bottom of the priority stack.  The only thing the user can do is adjust the radius at which the level of detail is greatest.  I do not have any add-on ground textures, but perhaps they look better at a distance than stock textures?

Is there anything I can change in the cfg to help at all?

Under [terrain] have you tried increasing the number for LOD_RADIUS=    4.5 is default.

I have not. Nervous to try. I use orbx and sometimes megasceneryearth with active sky next. The higher the more chance of OOM errors.

Not sure LOD radius would actually make a difference in this case.

That adjusts how far in the distance textures are viewed..

I agree with that....but wouldn't it also mean that you don't have to be real close to, let's use that blurry mountain, to

view it clearly?  Maybe I'm trying to think too far outside the box!

Orbx Global textures look better to my eye, but

I believe the ultimate fix is faster hardware.
