This usually happens when the simulator is recompiling shaders, but then the terrain textures come back. Have you tried deleting your shaders?

For example, this occurs during shader recompilation.

not quite sure if DX11has been a requirement for all those versions as I was in at the 2.5 version. you need to check at LM or ask the question on thier forum.

If you have recently purchased P3Dv3 you have two routes open to you.

If within 60 days you can request a refund or if the rest of your hardware is up to the task you can buy a graphics card that supports DX11, what are your specs ?

P3D v3 will not run on that card as the card only supports DX10.

P3D1.4 will run, but I doubt LM still sell that version.

This may be my memory going south but IIRC, didn't P3D pop up an error if you didn't have a DX11 compliant card? I also believe that the GTS250, although not fully DX11 compliant will run DX11 in a limited mode.

Don't quote me on that but it's what I seem to recall.

Google says GTS250 is DX10, so sounds like that's the problem, but I agree with Vic, I'd have assumed it would have thrown up an error and simply crashed.
