I can't believe that with all the users on this site the fund raising goal has not been met. Based on the value everyone has gotten from this for "free" I'm saddened that of the cheap skate mentality.

 

Oh, this weather generating program is "free" with donation. Well, that's free then. Off to the pub I go.

You are absolutely right! With all the help I've gotten off this site over the years, I never thought about donations - not because I'm a cheapo but it just never occurred to me.

I have been watching the donation numbers for about 3 months now and I've noticed that the numbers reset every month.  Avsim needs $3000 per month to run the site or is there something wrong with the donation statistics?

 

I'm not complaining or anything like that but would someone please chime in and state what is really needed.  Just looking for clarification.

The Donation Counter does reset every month , the $ 3000 figure would cover the bandwidth costs and data center were it attained.  In my recollection we came close once but typically it takes the combined revenue of the advertising and donations to keep us going .

 

The fly in the ointment is we can never afford to replace the servers or other equipment before they fail, I have faith in the current system but as time passes and it gets closer to the rated service life I know we will need to replace them in a couple of years or go for a cloud based system and its associated expenses.

 

In any case Avsim 's Staff really appreciates the help from our members in keeping the website going , we really couldn't do it without your kind assistance .
