I wonder if these unused 3D knobs could be put to good use?

Recommended Posts

GTN users have Nav/Com and Transponder built in so these nicely placed 3D knobs on the panel might be used for something really useful? I wonder if the coding gurus could figure this out? hmmm.

Wondering Ray.

Maybe just some creative placement of the popups with real convenient click spots would help with the 3 really out of place knobs.

I look at this....

Excellent. This is just an idea, if you have a better or easier method of getting the knobs working on the VC panel, go for it.

Thanks Janek,

Thanks Janek,

This does indeed work and I think one of our creative repainters can add 2d images of the actual 3rd to the panel texture.common file at these locations to asssit in remembering exactly where and exactly where the clickspot are located.  Thanks for making these for us.  I appreciate you sharing your special talents with our flightsim community.

I would suggest you split the VS and IAS.  Put the AS on the left near the Airspeed an have the VS adjacent to the VSI.  Thanks again.

Before you ask for the modified panel file, why don't we get a few more suggestions ways to identify these clickspots?

Best Regards,

Ray

Yes its possible but only as 2d layer in the bmp file. I think a rotating 2d or 3d knob on this position is not possible because the PFD case is locked for XML overlap bmp files. Good idea, maybe someone has more experience in design and time then me ;-)

This image was taken in the VC of a loaded Carenado CJ2. That is a 2d image of a 3D knob that I placed in the bmp file. AFAIAC is does not need to turn, it just needs to adjust the Heading or Altitude or VS or AS.

Once, we get the clickspots in their final location, we need to also look at adding them to the PFD popup screen.

OK. Forget all the knobs sticking out of the frame. How about a single new knob for ALT and hidden click spots for the others. I'm working on the Texture file now. Below BARO and above REFS switch.
