April 10, 201610 yr Looking for a corporate jet for P3D v3.2 and hit upon this intriguing thread. I gather if I we order from Carenado today we get a 1.1 version with a number of improvements. But I'm not clear about how to install my GTN 750, or where to obtain/install the great Squad mods - or where they fit in now? Can someone kindly point me in the right direction to get the info I need? With thanks in advance .... Gareth LEAL Gareth Wilkinson LEAL Costa Blanca, SPAIN
April 10, 201610 yr Hello Gareth, Yes, if you buy the CJ2 from Carenado now, you will get the 1.1 version. For The Mod Squad's updates and how to get them (still a work in progress), see the thread two threads below this one about the release, beginning with the word SHOWTIME....download link from Raymar is posted at the beginning of the thread, complete with a readme instructions file. Note that you MUST have the Flight1 GTN750 for this mod, either in P3D or FSX(-SE), which are two separate purchases from the Flight1 website. Also, keep an eye on the SHOWTIME thread, as a stop-gap autopilot fix has also been posted on the last page of the thread, currently page 4. It's a nice plane to begin with, and with these mods, it's great! Jim Jim BlakeCaptain, SWA Virtual AirlinesReal World C172 Pilot, AOPA #06034701
April 10, 201610 yr Excellent, thanks Jim. Appreciate the recommendation too. I have the GTN P3D version so I'm inclined to run with the CJ2 despite being a Carenado offering. These mods might make all the difference. Best regards, Gareth Gareth Wilkinson LEAL Costa Blanca, SPAIN
April 10, 201610 yr Quick question, 1. In this mod, will the FMA show ALTS in white to indicate that Altitude Select is armed when a new altitude is dialed in? 2. Will these mods work with the Hawker 850? Marlon Carter - AVSIM Reviewer
April 10, 201610 yr Hi Caribpilot, 1. Yes, see Janek's post #22's pic 2. Don't know, as this is strictly for the CJ2. There is another thread concerning the Hawker in this CJ2 forum...I don't have the Hawker. Jim BlakeCaptain, SWA Virtual AirlinesReal World C172 Pilot, AOPA #06034701
April 11, 201610 yr Hi guys, Just installed the CJ2 and took a trial flight out of FTX Palm Springs. First thing that struck me was the fps at around 8 frames in the VC! Rebooted and tried again. Same. Loaded the NGX and it was up in the usual 40+ fps. Can't be right? Any thoughts gentlemen? Best Gareth Medium strength PC: Intel i2700k at 4.5 GHz; Asus P868; 8GB RAM, GTX 780 OC, all SSD. Best\ Gareth Medium strength PC: Intel i2700k at 4.5 GHz; Asus P868; 8GB RAM, GTX 780 OC, all SSD. It sure doesn't sound right to me. Mine is more like flying a default plane. No impact on FPS at all that I notice. I only use the GTN, nothing in the FMS/Navigraph side of the house so it could be something to do with Navigraph. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
April 11, 201610 yr Hi Gareth, if I remember correctly, there was a heavy fps impact on the Hawker too. The solution was to disable the Navigraph DLL or something like this. Cheers Janek
April 11, 201610 yr Hi Gareth, if I remember correctly, there was a heavy fps impact on the Hawker too. The solution was to disable the Navigraph DLL or something like this. Yes. It seems in some systems, even high end like mine, the Carenavigraph.dll which is essential to a Navigraph based systems, brings the system to its knees. Check Carenado support for the "knowledge base". Only solution I know of is to kill it and go GTN. Note that for some weird reason, not all systems are affected.
April 11, 201610 yr Your constructive inputs are much appreciated. I'll let you know when I've fixed it ;-) Thanks, Gareth Kicking carenavigraph.dll into touch fixed it. Now for the GTN and the modding ... Gareth Wilkinson LEAL Costa Blanca, SPAIN
April 12, 201610 yr Update seemingly went without a hitch. Very impressed with this so far, much credit to all concerned. I see that there are no live click-spots on my CDU. I suspect this is due to flight planning, comms etc being now handled by the Garmin GTN, with the corresponding Proline functions disabled? The CDU continues to receive/display engine data, and is locked to that screen. Regards Gareth Wilkinson LEAL Costa Blanca, SPAIN
April 12, 201610 yr Author The Proline Radios are not disabled. Turn on the units with the power on knob and change freq with the scroll wheel on your mouse. The radio units do not popup. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
April 12, 201610 yr Hi and thanks Ray. Yes I spotted that the radios work in sync! Am I right about the CDU being disabled due to the GTN? Just so I know my installation is normal. On my first attempt at flying a route (Palm Springs to Sedona) I found tracking the GTN flightplan and Direct-To were a bit unpredictable but that may well have been me. I'll try again shortly. I'm aware there have been some issues with NAV selection but not sure if these had been sorted. Can you tell me the recommended way to use GTN navigation features with the modded CJ2 as it stands? Or maybe there's a tutorial you could point me to. Cheers Gareth Gareth Wilkinson LEAL Costa Blanca, SPAIN

If you are referring to the Carenado FMS, then yes, it is disabled when the GTN in installed in the VC. The actual screen of the FMS is used to provide Flight Info with the GTN mod. We have a new NON GTN mod that is being tested today and will provide clickspots and popups for those users that do not have or do not wish to use the GTN750 in the panel. The two mods can both be used with the CJ2, JUST NOT AT THE SAME TIME. You will need to have unique panel.cfg file names and reference those names in the aircraft.cfg file for specific [fltsim.x]. No, you are not correct in your assumptions that the GTN installation affects the VC panel mounted radios in any manner. The GTN will default to using its own built in Nav1/Com1 radios. As for using the GTN for flight plan and direct to being somewhat unpredictable - I have never, ever experienced this. Sounds like you might need to review the tutorial, however, the GTN is about as easy as I know to use. I fail to see how the GTN direct to could be unpredictable. If you press the Direct to button on the frame, choose a waypoint and press activate, it should draw a straight line and provide an immediate magenta flight path with time and distance. I have never seen it do anything other than this. The tutorial for the GTN is provided by Garmin and is installed on your PC if you are using the F1 GTN The GTN mod only places the F1 GTN750 in the VC panel. No other mods or enhancements are made to the GTN. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
