Latest episode features a couple of Intel veterans: longtime PR manager Dan Snyder and enthusiast strategic marketing lead Aaron McGavock. They answer a stack of questions on everything from CPUs to overclocking to platforms. We also get deeper insight into several hot topics, including overclocking support on non-K processors and the thermal interface material sandwiched between the processor die and heat spreader.

Unlocked CPU's record earnings for 2015... Good news for the future of the enthusiast platform.

Nice to hear that Intel regard the enthusiast market as a huge market for them.

15:49: Intel's stance on overclocking and where it will go in the future.

Nice to see that Intel now embrace overclocking, and even though it isn't officially supported, provide an overclocking warranty and even overclocking workshops. Intel say that enthusiasts overclocking enables them to make better products going forward.

Intel's opinion on the best way to stress test their CPU's!

Intel say use a stress test that matches your intended usage model!

TIM between die and heat spreader.

Intel say that over time, liquid metal TIM between die and IHS can as they call it pump out, due to the expansion and contraction of the part.

Intel say they are continuing to look at ways to reduce the thickness between die and IHS for better thermal performance

.

No mention of why they used TIM instead of solder.

Intel say they are very excited about Broawell E. Asus guy responds by saying that it's pretty cool what they've done. Will be interesting to see what they are talking about when the NDA is lifted.

Yields for 6770K are really good. With most CPU's falling within a tight band of overclocking. Is this a facet of the CPU architecture or are the CPU's being binned more aggressively?

Amusing that the Intel guy himself has his Skylake 6700K at 5 GHz on water. That should silence those who say it's bad to overclock, even Intel do it.

Intel say the consistency of overclocking with Skylake is more based on the better architecture than on aggressive binning. Skylake just happens to be a good part for overclocking.

Overclocking Skylake , if i remember right i write that in some tread here some time ago..

Hi Westman,

Have you ever heard of liquid metal TIM between die and IHS "pumping out" over time?

You did indeed.
