The windows registry points to FSX steam and Microsoft FSX in the same folder-ERROR.

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased Mindstar  GNS430/530 and I'm having trouble finishing the installation.

I went into the mindstar folder and found the folder named tools. There is an application called "regjump", but there is no program called "SimRegEdit", so I went into the regedit the normal way, and exported the keys in question to a safe place after creating a restore point..

I'm going to need some detailed instructions to correct this dual default issue so I can proceed with my Mindstar GNS430/530 installation please.

Below are 3 of the registry values and keys that I have discovered relating to my installation:

It appears that my failed attempts to install an older 2006 version of FSX has left a residual registry entry. I only have FSX steam edition installed on my PC, and I understand that I need to disable the one that I don't have installed.

Since I don't have any of these FSX program platforms installed on my computer, my question is, should I delete the registry "Subkey:Setup Path", or the whole "\Microsoft Games\" folder, or the "10.0" folder, or what? What about that "(Default)" Subkey that says "(value not set)"?

Tell me, am I even in the ball park here?

Another question that comes to mind is, after I disable the correct registry entry, do I simply re-run the "GNS-setup" application to continue the installation or uninstall it and start over? Thank you kindly.

My question was, should I delete just the registry "SubKey:Setup Path" in the "values" pane, or the whole "\Microsoft Games\" key in the "Keys" pane, or just the "\FSX\", or the "\10.0\, or what?

And then, how should I proceed with the installation? Thank you kindly.

If you have the steam version installed only, simply rename the FSX SetupPath to disabledSetupPath and that should allow you to install the 430/530.

Thank you kindly.

Would you recommend  that I re-run the original installer for the Mindstar GNS439/530?
