"Special" stuff?

 

For example - I have the Alabeo DA40. I also bought some hardware - rotary encoders, switches, etc. (From Desktop Aviator).

 

I'd like to connect a rotary encoder to my HSI's heading bug, but it's not in the choices.

 

How do I do this?

You wil need an intermediary piece of hardware that physically and electrically interfaces the rotary encoder to the USB on your computer. Search "Bodnar controller" for the type that I use.

Ok, I've looked through the LINDA manual a bit but am not at home...

 

Can you shed a little light on how I would select the HSI and assign a rotary encoder to it?

Andrew I believe you will find Linda is what your looking for. The software that interface your hardware with the in sim aircraft. switches and encoders. Example of a Linda Var input..Rotary HDG bug input + fast. Also there are many Linda specific profiles for specific aircraft as the variables can vary from one model to another. There is also an excellent tutorial on setting up Linda.
