FSX Error Warning sound effect

Recommended Posts

So I was doing a flight from Seattle to San Fran yesterday in the PMDG 777 and just before touchdown, I kept hearing an error sound but no windows popped up or anything so I proceeded with landing and things went smoothly except I would hear that dinging sound effect go off. Upon further investigation, I learned that FSUIPC was giving me a "Free memory is very low" error sound effect. I have a pretty decent system to run FSX SE. Below is the FSUIPC log file from yesterdays flight and specs to my system and addons that I have currently installed on my system. Just looking for a solution. I've been testing both FSX SE and Prepar3D v3 for the past month or so because I'm trying to make a decision on which sim to stick with and which one to drop completely. At this moment in time, I'm wanting to keep FSX SE because I have a lot of FSX addons that work well with it.

Rig Specs:

GeForce GTX 650 Ti (Drivers updated) Yes I know its a low end card but its all I can use at the moment.
Intel Core i7 4790K @4.0 GHz
16 GB of Ram
Currently running a triple monitor configuration and running FSX SE in window mode. (1) Monitor for visuals and the other two to display intruments.

Addons:

PMDG 777-200 and -300
FTX Global Base and North America
Active Sky Next
REX Texture Direct
Taxi2Gate KSEA
Flightbeam KSFOHD

No addon traffic installed. Just using default traffic for now.

unfortunately i don't think there is an ideal solution. in my experience the flightbeam KSFOHD eats up a ton of VAS space and when combined with the heavy memory use of the PMDG777 that combo is always giving me troubles.

there are a few things to try.. for one thing grab a utility that lets you see your free VAS. i like to use the vasmon app that come with bob scott's quantum leap. it's on the avsim library here: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=179703

based on what that shows you can see how close to the limit you are.

things i do when i'm flying that plane at the flightbeam ksfo:

1. reduce autogen to 'sparse' or even 'off' if necessary

2. reduce traffic sliders a lot

also make sure you have the most recent version of the 777 as this reduces its memory use by a pretty decent amount something like 2-300 megs.

generally i find that if i turn autogen off i can get in and out of there without running out of ram or getting the warning beep.. not an ideal solution but most of the 777 flights are at an altitude where autogen doesn't matter anyway so i take this as a compromise i can live with..

good luck

cheers-

p.s. go lions!!  calvin will be sorely missed

You can set FSUIPC4 to display available VAS.

Below is the how-to, copied from another thread;

"Go to the FSUIPC logging tab. Enter 024C in one of the 'specific value checks' boxes (0 = zero, not the letter O). Change the 'type' from S8 to S32 and check one of the available options where you want to show the remaining available VAS (I would go for the upper title bar because showing it onscreen may result in stutters)."

Hey Andy,

I actually took some of your advice there and everything seems to be doing fine now and yeah, I cried when Calvin announced his retirement and then just this week Datsyuk said he's retiring from the Red Wings to go home...... :(

Ah ok. Thanks for the tip :)
