P3D won't load...

I have already posted in the P3D forum but thought I may also be able to get some help here.

 

I recently purchased, downloaded and installed P3D v3 Academic, without any noticeable errors or issues. I went to run it for the first time, and the splash screen appears for a few minutes. But then it suddenly crashes to desktop and a 'fatal error occurred'. Here is the error log:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, plus upgraded by Graphics driver, which is a GTX 760, but I still get the same error.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

When you uninstalled, did you manually delete the hidden Lockheed Martin folder in the Program Data folder (at least, that's where it is on Windows 10).

Hello

I don't know what your specific problem is, but Error Code 0xc0000005 is an acces violation.

 

If you decide to reinstall, first uninstall from Control Panel -> Programs and Features

 

Then DO NOT install to the default path C:\Program Files (x86), instead before you reinstall create a new folder in C: or D:, and name it Prepar3D v3.

Run the installer (Right Click and select Run As Administrator) and point the installer path to the folder You created.

(Believe me, It will save you many many future problems, by avoiding Program Files security restrictions/problems.)

Yes, I am about to uninstall and reinstall following Kabronicus' directions. I uninstalled using the setup.exe and manually deleted:

 

%PROGRAMDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

%APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Prepar3D v3 Files

So  have reinstalled using your directions, and everything went smoothly.

But, when I opened P3D for the first time, it said that there was no valid scenery.cfg file and it aborted.

 

I don't know what is wrong?

Did you also delete the Remains of your main Prepar3D install Location,  it seems that something maybe be left over from the old Install setup.

 

Make sure you delete all 5 folders

So I uninstalled and reinstalled following your instructions exactly. This time the scenery.cfg seemed to work, but I still recieved a fatal error.

I don't believe it is a problem with my download either as the zip size and checksum are both correct.

The problem might be difficult to track as Your error log does not point the faulting module.

it can be software or hardware related.

 

To get more info, Try this:

1.- Search the Event Log for any P3D related Errors or

     on the search ribbon type view all problem reports and search for P3D.

     If they are present and have more info, pate it here.

 

2.- Download this app AppCrashView and run it.

2a.- Paste here the latest Prepar3D error reported.

2b.- Post your hardware specs, drive capacity and free space.

 

You might also try some or all of this:

1.- Run Windows Cleanup.

2.- Run a Check Disk on your C: drive.

3.- Run the MS System File Checker Tool.

Test P3D

4.- Run the .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool and/or the Microsoft Framework Repair Tool.

Test P3D.

 

Note: AppCrashView might won't work if you have previously disabled WER (Windows Error Reporting)

In many cases this is a problem with dll.xml in C:/users/your account name/AppData/Local/Lockeed Martin. Disable it by renaming to dll.xml.off  and see if the sim is loaded.

I agree, try that.

But in this case it is supposedly a new fresh install. (everything was deleted before install)

I'm currently going through the additional bits like cleanup etc now. I will report back with any news. This seems like a problem with my computer, as FSX was doing the same thing. I will test with a game or something on my computer, because I'm thinking it could be a graphics card problem.

Hey guys,

 

I think I have found the problem, like I'm 99% sure.

I installed P3D onto the family computer to test if it works, and it turns out it does. So I have identified that it is a problem with my computer. Whether it is the graphics card or something I am not sure, so I'm going to take it to my local technician for him to check it out. It has also been happening with my other apps like FSX and a few of my games.

So thanks for the help guys, it is really appreciated. I'll post here if the issue is rectified.
