MD-11 is a beautiful bird!

No teasing allowed. Havnt  been able to fly my favorite aircraft since going to Prepar3D.  The sacrifices we make.

I fly it everyday in P3D! It works like a champ, and it looks even better since I downloaded a VC update pack to make the flight deck more up to par with newer aircraft.

He's upset because you're using it in P3D.

Are we not suppose to or something?

You not only posted a photo clearly showing that you are illegally using the MD-11 in P3D, but did it in PMDG's own forum. You've got chutzpah, I'll give you that!

Makes no difference to me one way or the other, but your photo is probably ill-advised....

Well, okay. Wasn't aware that using the MD-11 in P3D... It works fine after tweaking it a bit, and I don't use FSX anymore. Just didn't want to abandon this beautiful bird.

I do understand! I love the MD-11, and wish I could use it in P3D myself. But, PMDG is very strict about their licensing terms. The MD-11 was licensed only for FSX, and cannot be used in P3D, even if it can be made to install by using the migration tool, or by other means. It's unfortunate, because it is no longer being sold even for FSX, so there is no chance of ever seeing an authorized P3D version.

Wow, that's a bummer  Truly is one of the most majestic planes out there, and being a former UPS manager who worked the graveyard shift on the ramp, I have a particular weakness for the MD-11 (especially in that livery!)

I hate to add insult to injury but that migration tool (who shall not be named) is causing quite a stir in the fs world.  I avoided it like the plague despite the fact that I would love to be able to use the PMDG 747 in P3D...I miss flying THAT bird...I'll be patient though and wait for v2. :)

I say congrats on enjoying your magnificent bird. She sure is beautiful. I have a soft spot for her too. Never really figured out what it is. The 3 holer, the winglets, or the fact the cockpit is just different to the other big 2 companies.

I have gone to the trouble of having FSX and P3D installed side by side so I can seamlessly move from one sim to the other if I feel like the 777 or the MD-11 on that day. The other day I was in Sydney and saw UPS34 did a big loop nice and low from where we were by chance as she lined up for runway 16R I guess. It looked great.

I will stay out of the FSX vs P3D debate but would love to know more about this VC upgrade but with the iron fist PMDG rule over such things may get us both banned and don't want any trouble, so just go back and enjoy that bird!

This whole "stiring up of the hornet's nest" could have been easily avoided if you'd cropped the image a little. Nobody would have been able to tell (unless they did a CSI kind of analysis of the screenshot...)

Regarding the topic itself: It's definitely a beautiful aircraft. I love the MD-11 and the DC-10. I also have to say that the L-1011 is a better ship :)

No. This is in violation of the EULA that specifically states that the product is only for FSX.

Yes, just yes.

People still fail to understand that purchasing an aircraft for use in a sim does not mean that the user owns the aircraft, they purchase a license to use the aircraft in the specified sim.  Usage outside of that sim, if not explicitly stated by the developer, is a violation.  I believe this is stated rather clearly in the EULA, which I would suspect, not many read these days.
