My old and only 2 FSX Crash

Recommended Posts

I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight....  Too bad it is not a long weekend! :LMAO:  But, if the crashes continue, I'm getting ready to release V3 of the AVSIM CTD Guide (exciting times!).

Any flight over 3 hours scares me.  I wish our members would keep them down to 1 - 2 hours at the max by using the flight acceleration tool built into P3D, FSX, and FSX-SE.

Best regards,

Looking forward to that V3 CTD Guide. The crash was back again after several short flights and it's still Stackhash_3e9b. I experiment and use Word Not Allowed's, tweaks before I started the 3 hour flight but not all of them and that resulted a success flight without crashing. I did the skidmark tweak for a long time now(removing the fx_skidmark.fx)  but that doesn't cause the crash.

No Nvidia inspector tweaks since I have Intel HD 4000. I had Anisotropic filtering to 2x(Not in fsx) and Vertical Sync to "Application Settings" at the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel. I do still have my Mytrafficmil.bgl set to .orig. I might uninstall it and go back to Ultimate Traffic 2. I also use Shade everytime so I think that might cause a crash but I haven't seen any users reporting a crash due to Shade. ONLY in ENB and SweetFX

You can check my fsx settings in this FSX.cfg below when I made that long haul flight.

Sorry the problem is still not fixed.  Word Not Allowed stated a long time ago that he did not like his tweaks as they take up too many resources and cause crashes and told viewers to be careful using his settings.  Yet, he continues to post them somewhere on the Internet.  NickN, who is a MVP (Microsoft Valuable Professional) and a former employee of NVidia, and who is well known as a computer guru and FSX guru (and author of GEX/GEP3D), does not believe in tweaks but has posted the Bufferpool tweak he suggests people use if they are going to employ a tweak.  But all of that was after he installed the same system as I have (in my signature)(I got my system first).  Prior to that he had several tweaks he recommended.

What happens if your Bufferpool tweak in your config is improper for your computer system?  Does it cause this StackHash?  This is why I suggest a default config.  You want to make sure nothing in your config is the cause of your crashes.

I got rid of a StackHash once by changing my overclock from 4.4GHz to 4.2GHz (lowered the settings).  I also got rid of it by changing my BIOS settings from an overclock to the default optimized settings for the BIOS.  The first one I ever got really frustrated me so much I simple reformatted my HDD, reinstalled Windows 7 and then slowly but surely, reinstalled FSX/Acceleration and each add-on.  It was no fun but it got rid of the crashes.

Well I didn't know that! Good thing to hear that. I might go back and try NickN's recommended tweaks only from his Bible.

It seems to have no problems at all before until now. The GPU was at 90%+ most of the time. So that probably causes it. I disabled it after that by putting a // in front of it a little while ago and I landed at the airport, but it still crashes while I'm using the fsrecorder while watching my smooth landing: -34.6 ft/m (kiss).

I'm still getting the MSVCR80.dll crash. Should I reinstall 2008 and 2010 too?

Edit for MSVCR80.dll crash while reading NickN's Bible:

IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

Just after installing FSX with the patches, install the POST SP1 C++ Library 2005 Update

The C++ Library update is needed for aircraft support and is installed with FSX/Acceleration. The link above is to the update which did not ship with Acceleration.

You want the 32bit version (x86) not the 64 bit version even if you use a 64bit OS. FSX is a 32bit application and requires the 32bit version of the C++ Library update which is what is linked above.

IMPORTANT NOTE: After you have applied the Post SP1 2005 C++ Library patch Windows Update will locate the version and update it automatically and correctly. The original update that shipped with FSX/Acceleration has a error in it that the patch above corrects and from there Windows Update under the 'OPTIONAL' updates will offer a update version (VC++ 2010) which is required for many different planes. The more advanced Flight1 aircraft with G1000 use the VC++2010 Library update. When you run Windows Update (as outlined LATER in this outline) be sure to review the OPTIONAL updates and install the ones that are not Microsoft Bloatware such as BING Desktop or toolbars. Many of those optional Windows Updates are very important.

From his post, Do I still need to install this even for Windows 8 users?

Thanks

Do you have the link from his post? Can't find them, it might be useful. Thanks

Update #1: Ok so I'm back and I still get the MSVCR80.dll crash sometimes after installing NickN's SP1 C++ Library 2005 Update.

Update #2: I uninstalled MyTraffic 6 and switched back to Ultimate Traffic 2

Now the crash I got every time is this:

I searched the Stackhash_8382 crash which is Sig[6].Value=PCH_03_FROM_mscorwks+0x00254BEF and there's several people have the same crash. You're the only one who responded to this people and you said is about MyTraffic but I already removed it. Also there's one post you said there's something wrong about the Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0. But NO one ever responded back. So I would like to bring this back up again.

Here's what I did so far:

I ended up having 2 entries for each of them which x64 & x84bit each year showing up on Programs and Features.

From what remember, I used to have:

Several 2005 and 2008 entries installed. - Kinda like on the Picture from AVSIM CTD Guide

6 2012 entries(3 x64 and 3 x86) installed

1 2013 (x86) and 1 2015 (x86) installed

  • Uninstalled NickN's SP1 C++ Library 2005 Update.

I don't know if this would effect other programs that use these microsoft visuals. I'm still getting the crash after these.

Thanks again

Try this:  http://www.simforums.com/forums/fsx-tweaks-demystified_topic37948.html

For me to go and search the internet for other things you want to see might take me some years.  In any case, whatever I provide, you would easily try to discredit the topic or information as later things have been posted.

Uninstalled NickN's SP1 C++ Library 2005 Update

Not sure what you did here.  SP1 of Microsoft Visual 2005 is installed corrected with the proper version according to your crash report above.  The AVSIM CTD Guide provides the proper link to the Microsoft Visual 2005 w/SP1 and 2008 w/SP1.

As I have stated several times, x64 and x86 can live together.  Not sure why Microsoft installs the x64 bit version for these really old Visuals but they do.  They are never used by any application that I know of as FSX only uses Visual 2005 w/sp1 (only addons from developers use Visual 2008 w/SP1.

I am not sure why you do not want to follow the AVSIM CTD Guide to investigate the "scene of YOUR crime (BEX/StackHash)".  You simply move the fsx.cfg, dll.xml, exe.xml, and scenery.cfg to a temp folder and restart fsx.  FSX.cfg and scenery.cfg will be rebuilt.  Now, run your flight again.  Does it crash with a BEX/StackHash?  No, of course not.  If it does, then it is a BIOS or hardware problem.  Now you need to find out which one of those four files caused the StackHash.

You have a very low powered computer.  You should run FSX with mostly the default settings.  Raising the sliders higher could cause a problem.  I would never run FSX w/ a laptop.

I do always follow your CTD Guide even the latest version you just updated. I reinstalled FSX Acceleration last night and followed your advice by backing up those 4 files. and I'm still getting the same exact crash. I already reduced the settings lower than what any other addons recommended.

I have a feeling about the Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0 might be corrupted according to the one you replied to someone's crash.

I moved the dll.xml and the exe.xml but it didn't created a new one.

I never changed my fsx.cfg since my fsx doesn't crash anymore.

Thanks,

Is it possible if I can just delete the addons entry that were installed inside of those 2 files and let fsx write it again just like the fsx.cfg?

I moved the dll.xml and the exe.xml but it didn't created a new one.

Those files are not default files installed with FSX.  The files are used by developers to load their modules.

So is it fixed?  You are no longer getting a StackHash?

I have a feeling about the Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0 might be corrupted according to the one you replied to someone's crash.

If you ran the System File Scanner that searches for corrupt or missing files, it would have caught that.  It is very difficult to corrupt a dotnet.  I do not recall telling anyone that their dotnet 2.0 was corrupted but it is possible as I respond to many posts.  Reinstalling the dotnet will not hurt anything but I seriously doubt that is the problem in this case.  A stackhash is something stuck in memory and nearly impossible to fix.  I and many others have just been lucky messing around with our BIOS settings and FSX software addons.  I had to run Process Monitor once as I was getting the crash at exactly the same location in my flight.  The Process Monitor indicated MyTrafficX AI were being loaded.  I disabled MyTrafficX and the problem stopped.  It really wasn't MyTrafficX but a flight schedule they offer for download.  Think it was the 2013 flightplan schedules.

One other time I got a StackHash, I reinstalled Windows 7 and FSX.  It was the only way I could fix it.  Afterwards, I figured if I had moved or deleted the scenery.cfg, it would have fixed the problem as the scenery.cfg is rebuilt.

Many of us get this CTD, many don't.  That's why I say you have to investigate what's going on with your computer.

Hope you find a solution.

Best regards,

No, I mean I haven't change anything in my fsx.cfg since it got rid of the Stackhash_3e9b crash that I started in this thread. And now it shows a different crash.

I moved the dll.xml and exe.xml file  back to the fsx folder and made a new fsx.cfg and scenery.cfg.

I'm trying to add the addons back in the scenery library right now and see if the crash stopped. I forgot to say that I'm getting that crash already while I was only parked at the gate using my PMDG 777.

Thanks,

Don't forget that the modules in the dll.xml are needed for the aircraft, like PMDG 777 to work properly.  So, if the crash goes away with the dll.xml moved to another folder, then it is likely there is something in the dll.xml that is not installed correctly.  If it is the module when you load FSX, then it will crash immediately.  If it is a problem with the aircraft or scenery, then it will crash while sitting at the gate (for instance).  If you have any Anti-Malware or Anti-virus programs scanning FSX folders, then that could be a problem as these programs periodically see "false positive", something they think is a virus or malware and they prevent it from working.

Best regards,

I always shutdown protection from webroot and closing my browser before starting fsx

I put the dll.xml, exe.xml, and scenery.cfg back. FSX.cfg is the only new file I decided to create it. After creating it, I launch fsx and started clicking "yes" and accepting the addons that pops up (meaning adding the entries to the [Trusted] section of the fsx.cfg)

After that, I set the lowest setting in the fsx display settings, then close out fsx.

And then finally, I only added few tweaks in the .cfg:

RejectThreshold=131072  ----> I get Low FPS if it's not in the .cfg because of the use of CPU (from what I saw in my task manager) so I decided to lower it and pass it onto GPU

[JOBSCHEDULER]

AffinityMask=4   -----> NickN says it's required for dual core users

[Display]

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40  -----> Didn't change it, it's already there, just in case.
UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=30
WideViewAspect=True ----> Changed from False

[Main]
DisablePreload=1

I also use FSPS Fiber Accelerator and made a successful flight last night from KDTW to KPHL. It didn't crash prior to exiting the fsx from the simulator, not in the main menu. I get somewhat low fps because the FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.15 was not in there.

I'm afraid to ask if ForceFullScreenVSync=1 or ForceWindowedVsync=1 works because I don't have any option to set any refresh rate in my Intel Configuration settings. The only option I can choose is "In Application Settings" and "On" and I'm probably the only one who uses Intel here. When you guys saw my system specs, I can feel like sometimes you guys can force me to uninstall and stop playing forever because my specs are unacceptable. The only thing I can do to help my fsx is to tweak just a little and lower the settings to the lowest option whatever is available.

Thanks again,

Update: another flight, that were parked at the gate of KPHL. Switched my view to AI Traffic that was flying out of the airport then switched back to EZCA VC Cam, it took a while to load the textures back again (my VC cockpit, and airport). Then boom, crash was back again.

It should be something about the MSCORWKS: --> Sig[6].Value=PCH_03_FROM_mscorwks+0x00254BEF There's nothing about my settings and the fsx.cfg. I think this crash started when I flew PMDG 777 in the US for the first time in about 2 weeks ago. I used to fly Aerosoft Airbus in Southeast Asia most of the times without getting this type of Stackhash crash.

I might switch to Prepar3d. Do you think I can run it especially sticking into DX9?

Thanks,

P3D is essentially FSX.  Same engine.  It's just that it was updated a little.  Requires more resources and hardware as it has all of that fancy stuff for DX11 like cloud shadows (which you can turn off).  If will still run some DX9 stuff, but, like FSX/Acceleration, it will not run old stuff prior to FSX.  Just don't turn on DX11 things (which begs the question, why upgrade to P3D when you are not going to use the technology?).

I seriously doubt your problem is with the PMDG 777 or the Aerosoft Airbus.  If you continue to use tweaks with wrong settings, a StackHash or another type of crash like the ntdll.dll will occur.  I would bring in a computer expert and have him/her figure out how to tweak your fsx properly.  You might have already damaged your computer system.  Your best solution now is to reinstall Windows 8 and then FSX.  This will remove the StackHash (which is system related) and you can start tweaking again.

Best regards,

I might try this first : http://www.avsim.com/topic/450513-crash-to-desktop-issuehelp/page-2

If the crash still exist, I might do a complete reinstall of FSX Acceleration. Or do a Windows 8 REFRESH not reset.

Thanks,

It might work.  I once had the ntdll.dll crash and looked in the dll.xml and saw duplicate PMDG entries, removed one, and my ntdll.dll crashes stopped.  The ntdll.dll and StackHash are closely related.  Perhaps the module in the dll.xml is not being loaded properly at startup.  Could be something as simple as this.  Good luck!

Best regards,

 I never had an ntdll.dll crash

Reinstalled PMDG 777-200LR/F and -300ER on both SP1C.

Landed successfully back to KDTW (Aerosoft USCities X) from KPHL and I just randomly look at each of my 6 AI Traffic while GSX do the deboarding process. Then suddenly, the sounds of AI disappeared and I thought it was just a freeze at the moment but it crashed. Same old crash, same old story....  :fool:  :Shame On You:
