Satellite reference in WED?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just looking at WED and I'm trying to figure how if satellite imagery can be used as a reference (but not necessarily a ground texture)?

I am not sure what this is actually called in XP (if it's possible) so I'm not sure what to search for, but haven't found it yet.

thanks

Andrew

yes you can

Once you are on WED go to View->Pick image overlay and select your desired image from your disk. You use the image on the background as a reference to edit your airport, taxiways, objects placement, etc. etc.

if your image is geo-referenced (including latitudes/longitudes embedded) WED will place the image automatically on its right position. If you use a standard image, you have to drag it to your desired position prior to start editing.

here you have a tutorial, there is tons of material. Google it.

hope this helps
