FSX Acceleration prevent re-activation on harware change?

Recommended Posts

Since I am planning to change my MoBo I need to be prepared for FSX wanting to be re-activated on startup. But I dont have my serial anymore. It has been 5 years since my Installation and its running fine, so I dont really want to reinstall everything.

Before getting flamed as a pirate: my FSX is legit and already installed and activated on my machine.

Are there any ways (registry etc.) to prevent FSX from needing reactivation? thx in advance.

Somewhere out there is a little utility that will grab your FSX serial number. I can't remember what it is

called or where I got it but someone here, or in the Google world, should have the info.

Disregard bonehead post: my bad.

All of the necessary info is on the hard drives and changing-out like you've done wouldn't require a re-activation for FSX.

You'll need a re-install of your Operating System and that 'll require a FSX re-install.

I know thats recommended, but a reinstall of my FSX with all addons will take me months. ;) I changed MoBo like that before with my current installation, usually it works, provided you can remove the hardware drivers. In my case, I replace an ASUS M4A board with an M5A one, which means I only need to update chipset drivers to get it working and should be fine. :)

And no, its not true that this doesnt require reactivation. The last time I did this FSX knew I had my MoBo changed and wanted me to enter my serial number again.

Reporting back, everything hardware related worked without issues after performing clean driver uninstalls. :) Howevery, as I suspected, FSX wants to be reactivated. :\

EDIT: nevermind ;)
