Anything new

Recommended Posts

Hello

Is there any new news on the 747 ..literally anything it's been quite a while since I've seen anything and the forum seems a bit dead

If there's been anything new that I missed please disregard this topic and point me towards it

Thank you

I think they'd tell us if there was - no need to ask.

Well there are new add-ons for different simulators released. Check out the Froolgesim channel every single Sunday. He has news about new software that is released or about to be released. The latest big thing that was released was the IXEG 737 Classic. This is a study aircraft for X-Plane 10.

Dave, if you don't mind a little piece of valuable info, the mainpage to this forum has a bunch of stickied items at the top, one of which discusses planned work by PMDG.  Adding to what Andrew stated, if there is something newsworthy coming down the pipes, PMDG will let us know and you will know when it comes because they'll break the internet, like they always do. :)

I have noticed a trend that when PMDG releases a highly anticipated airframe, the machines VISA uses at your local stores seems to be having LAG with cc purchases....  :P

I wonder if it puts a strain on PMDG's systems when there's a massive download rush on releasing a product.

We distribute through Amazon's AWS, so, not entirely. If a bunch of people try to download it within the same area, things will slow down, but if you're the only person up on that node, you'll crush download speeds at your limit between you and the node. Luckily, the Ashburn Data Center isn't too far from me, so everything off of AWS is quick.

That's interesting actually - I wonder if it puts a strain on PMDG's systems when there's a massive download rush on releasing a product.

I've heard it's enough to cause butterfly wings to flap in the rain forest. :P

I remember when the FS9 747 was released the PMDG site crashed. Ironic given the brilliant graphic on the website showing a 747 breaking through a brick wall.

Going by Kyle's reply things have changed since then.

Actually, It wasn't just the PMDG site, Avsim's crashed too because so many people were refreshing the forum waiting for a release announcement.   The arrival of that big bird came a lot closer to breaking the Internet than that Kardashian girl ever did. :P
