Hello,

I recently bought new hardware for my pc,but i dont know if i am performing good or bad.

Specs:

CPU:Intel 4770

GPU:AMD 280X

RAM:8GB

1 HDD Drive

No overclocking

I get aprox. 20 fps with almost full graphics,in a pmdg 737 on schiphol, aerosoft scenery.

I have traffic turned off.

What do you think?

Sounds about right, Aerosoft Schiphol is not exactly the most optimized scenery that's for sure.

If you have any cash left, an Nvidia card would be good. I never had much performance out of AMD. Just a thought.

Yeah that's about it for performance.  You can sometimes get a little more out of it, but not much.

The other question to be asked is: "Does your setup run  smooooth?" It's not all about the FPS as I found out via this forum ;)

I can imagine the OP banging his head against the wall upon the discovery that FSX is such a horrible application, haha.

Yes my friend, join the club! :)

Everybody, thanks for the replies. As alpha floor said,i discovered(the hard way)that fsx indeed runs horribly.I have high hopes for the Dovetail sim,but otherwise i am switching to xplane.

I am thinking about switching to nvidia,as BillW said, but should i do that first,or buy an SSD,because many people said that it would help alot.

Again, thanks for the many responses

It doesn't run horribly if you configure and set it up properly and don't test it at a horribly unoptimized airport. That particular airport actually can be made to run fairly well with some user tweaks, but was designed a long time ago before a lot of better design techniques have been discovered by some developers. Actually 20 FPS at that place with no tweaks and everything maxed out is not to bad. If you do some leg work you could probably get 30 FPS with aftermarket traffic.

I have applied all the tweaks from the FSX Bible by NickN. Im inexperienced, and i needed some guide.

Nicholas, as the guide very well says, don't become obssesed with tweaking. There's only so much you can get out of FSX and tweaking won't do much (it will only raise your stress levels :)...

Get yourself a Nvidia 9xx, think about migrating to DX10 (with fixer) or P3D and you should be running better.

Some can do this, some can't... but I find with my Ivy Bridge system that if I run with unlimited frame rate, no frame rate limiter at all, I achieve much higher frame rate. And I don't get much in the way of stutters either. I don't run super demanding scenery add-on's though, but I do run ASX and PMDG aircraft for example.

Always worth a try, always worth testing conventional wisdom.

BP=0 works well for me too, providing a significant improvement in dodgy weather scenarios.
