fsx-ms How do I turn ooff smoke system in FSX

Hi...I am trying to turn off the smoke system in FSX. I press "I" but it doesn't go off, the option remains "ticked" in the menu.

 

Any ideas ?

One can turn off the smoke by removing that section from the aircraft .cfg .

Smoke System Option in the Menu??  That's a new one!  Where would I find it?  What aircraft are you using?

I am using FSX standard, with PMDG aircraft. It is one ofmthe options in the drop down menu.

Pete .. no ... mine is black contrails when cruising... I thought it might be smoke and tried to switch it off, but couldn't.

 

The real issue is I get black cntrails while cruising... don't know how to fix it.

 

I also realised when I am cruising that I can't turn off smoke in the FSX menu bar drop down.

gauges_recovery_fsx.zip  Download this file and run it to fix your corrupted effects files.  This will take care of

 

your black contrails.  I had a hunch that was your problem.

Yes, Just type in the filename as I wrote it.

Just worried if running it will mess my system. Instead if anyway to know which effect file is corrupted, could just only replace that.

 

Don't want it messing up my setup back to original state, since I have addons etc... maybe a bit too paranoid.

It fixes only what is corrupted, nothing else.  It's up to you...it's your Sim.
