My latest toy :)

Decided to purchase this beastie from Virtavia - North American's XB-70 Valkyrie. Quite a challenging plane to fly in that you cannot horse it around - more than 2Gs and it gets upset. More than 450 knots at low level and you get an overspeed warning, followed quite soon by another overstressed crash :) However, speed, range and altitude?? You've got those!

That's how you buzz the tower :D (couldn't resist). Or at least the virtual tower & fire station of an updated EGCC for FXS:SE. Probably annoyed Manchester, not to mention most of the north west of England. :Hmmmph:

WOW!

How accurate is the simulation? I guess it must have been difficult for the developers to find real pilots who would test-fly the thing. Only 2 units built :)

Care to share some pictures of the cockpit?

I guess the simulation fits the idea of how a big fast, slippery heavy delta should fly, at least to a total layman like me!

Here's some cockpit shots. I've moved the viewpoint back somewhat in the virtual cockpit so you can see the clamshells in which the ejector seats were encased.

Great looking shots of a fantastic aipcraft....I have the Virtavia SR71. Keep your speed under 350K climbing to 40000ft then push the nose over @ full power to exceed mach 1 compressability. Speed builds rapidly after that. Don't let that AOA get to 10.

....Try to make a more deep review soon if you can :)

Well, there is this proper AVSIM review from 2007 for the FS9 version. I would assume the flight dynamics haven't changed (very little visual change, if any):-

Thanks for the input, guys!

No worries, Cdr. The review is for the FS9 version and Virtavia says the plane is updated for FSX (I don't know what they've done, unless it's DX10 compatible?).

I lived on WP airbase and I would walk to school (6th grade) and back passing right under the big white bird! That's the old museum was near one of the base gates.  I would be there almost every day at the museum. This was 1969.
