Lost ATC voice.

Recommended Posts

Guest Groundcrew

Can anyone help me? I've lost my voices. I have the text for ATC but no voices. Voices are selected and a pilot voice enabled. This has happened before and I know there is a simple solution but I can't remember. I did a search of the forum but it didn't return anything of use.Cheers!http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgSemper en excretum, solo profundum variat!

Did you install any add-ons such as EditVoicePack or Traffic200x or something like that? It happened to me. I installed Traffic2004, then added EditVoicePack a few months later and, bam, I lost the voices. I had to reinstall.I'm not blaming EditVoicePack or Traffic2004. I just missed a step somewhere :).

Try restoring your gvp file (see http://www.editvoicepack.com/readme.html#ToC23 - pay special attention to the instructions to delete files at the end of the paragraph)If this is not enough it might be the audio codec... I can't rememnber what it is called or how to restore it, but apparently there is a mictosoft knowledgebase entry with the required information...

I had it happen using FS2002. I was told to reinstall Windows Media Player and that restored the ATC voices. Ed Weber a.k.a tallpilot

I've now reinstalled the soundcard drivers, carried out all the EditVoicePack instructions and updated media player 10. I've just noticed that I don't have any jet sounds if I'm flying. Props and AI are ok but no jets.Sounds like a windows problem, any tech heads out there?http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgSemper en excretum, solo profundum variat!

The problem you described (prop sounds, but no jets) is usually caused by corrupted audio CODECs. Although you said in an earlier post that you installed several CODECs, it may still be worthwhile checking out the Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB).Go to the Microsoft website and search the KB for "KB177252". The title of this article is "Flight Simulator: No Instructor, Pilot or ATC Voices ..... ". This problem will also affect jet engine sounds. This KB article refers to Win98, WinME and Win2000. If you have WinXP, the instructions may still be useful. If not, you'll need to find a CODECs guru somewhere.I know very little about the CODECs, but had your identical problem about three years ago with Win98SE. Uninstalling and reinstalling the audio CODECs did the trick.Hope this will be useful to you.Regards,JerryH

This happened to me with Traffic 2004 too, I didn't let the install finish properly. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it was fine.
