WX Advantage Weather Radar!

Recommended Posts

Just be aware, its still in beta testing and not as yet available for download. I jumped in with both feet, paid for it and then realised that its not yet out. Ooppss.

I almost just hit the purchase button and then read that. Thanks. I'll still buy it, but won't have to wonder now lol.

27 USD seems a bit steep for a product which as of now afaik works only with some Milviz planes. Looks nice though.

Even if you're able to download it, my experience shows the product seems not to be ready yet, as it crashed my P3D twice, had to uninstall it to get P3D working normally again.

You must have the most recent P3D hot fix installed or it will not work.

As well, it works with ALL aircraft but in 2D mode only.

(FYI, this was tested on MANY systems and it worked on all of them. If you bought it and it's not working even though you've got the most recent installation of P3D 3.2.3, then please contact support at Rex.  You will be assisted)

Hi Hans, the radar is compatible with all aircraft. Also, the price is $24.95.

Hi, would like to know what do you know as "most recent P3D hotfix". As far as I know, there is not such hotfix, and most current version is P3D 3.2.3.16769, which is the one I have installed.

Cheers,

Ed

Ed,

That sounds like the latest.

What exactly is happening when you try and run the WX?

What aircraft are you running it in?

Do you have your AV off when you downloaded and installed it?

UAC disabled? Windows Vista and up (not Win XP)

Running the sim as an admin (right clicking on the icon and choose run as admin)?

Hi, running the default Beech King Air 350 (in VC view) when loading the simulator (as default scenario in KVPS airport). UAC disabled, Win 10 64-bits, P3D with Adm rights, all of this as it should be (well this is old news!!!).

My AV is not really very aggressive, I keep it turned up almost all the time, so I don't think it has something to do with the install anyway (Avira).

THE PROBLEM: When the simulator is loading up, it crashes, the screen becomes black and P3D seems to be running in the background, but nothing really happens and you get stuck. Had to uninstall the WX radar completely, reboot the PC, and now P3D starts-up normally, as always.

Opened-up already a post at the REX forum to get help from them. They do have an excellent support service and hopefully we'll have this problem sorted out soon.

What about the comments about the product being in beta yet?. Is that true?.

Cheers,

Ed

Its not beta or it would have not been released - REX doesnt release betas - you have to have P3D 3.2.3 which solved an issue with registration problems - there is two versions as far as I know - the first one and this one that fixed registration problems - I dont have 3.2.3 version as I didnt have any issues installing the first version but can confirm it will not work on the first version of P3D

It's not in beta.  It was heavily tested by many and no one had issues like this.

You MUST disable your AV before downloading and installing the product.  Most AV's will pick this product up as a virus... It's a false positive.

As well, read above...

Hi, Rich. Thanks.

I do have the latest P3D v3.2.3.16769 installed, that fixed previous registration issues, as you said.

I make the question about beta, because if you go to the REX website, you'll see that REX still indicates "the product is currently in beta testing". I bought it from SimMarket, and that's why I didn't see the comment before buying (otherwise I would not have bought it, for sure).

Please read above.

Before doing anything with my AV (which I still think is not causing the problem), I will wait for the support from REX.

Thanks anyway,

Ed

As you wish but, seeing as we made (mostly) the program, that's probably what they will tell you.. (because it's us that will be telling them that...)

Ok. Let's wait, it could be, as you say.

Could you please confirm one point to me: if you're in VC view, you can open the WX radar as a pop-up 2D panel (with the main panel in VC view)?.

Thanks,

Ed

You should be able to open the pop up... see it in the main view.  (can be VC or external but you would probably have to reopen it if you changed views).

Once there... turn it on.  If there's nothing on screen but it's raining... there's a problem...

If you load up heavy weather... and you still see nothing... there's a problem...

If you have a CTD, then it;s likely you have AV issues.

If you see nothing but there's no rain or heavy weather... it's working.

Good luck Ed - if I were you I would also give admin rights to the WXR program folder and why not exclude it in your AV - I always turn off AV when simming

Also install this dandy of a program - run the reg file that turns it on - click on a folder right mouse click on it then go down to takeownership will save you a lot of time and works great - I use it on all of my sim related folders including P3D and any addons - make sure you let it run until its done sometimes if its a large folder it appears its not working but it is - go get it

Over time as you add more stuff to your P3D folder you can run it again to b sure - has never caused a problem been using it for years
