Nice shots.  Not familiar with this aircraft but is certainly very cool.  Love the unique shape.  Love the tail dihedral, and love the cockpit windows.  Engine inlets are very cool too.

Paul - a small favour if I may? Did you have any issues with the Victor sound pack in P3D? The reason I ask is that in FSX:SE with the engines running, the sound in the cockpit is far too loud, drowning out the ATC voices. I have managed to set the Victor up cold and dark and it seems that only when starting No.2 does the sound go wrong - a constant jet ROAR. When switching to an external view and panning around, the sound behaves as you might imagine.

Not sure if it's an issue with the Alphasim Vic itself.

Like many 4 engined FSX aircraft, the sound.cfg file only uses 2 engines. I've yet to obtain sound editing software and research the "problem" a bit more.

Mark, I'll get back to you on that. Currently the Victor is un-installed, and I wont get much chance to do anything sim-wise until next weekend. But I will put it back in and try to replicate your problem. I've got this thread followed, so I wont forget.

Mark - dreadfully sorry about the delay in responding. I've had a bereavement in the family and obviously my energies and concerns have been directed elsewhere in the last few weeks.

Anyway, on to your sound problem. I've just re-installed the Alphasim Victor in P3DV3.2 and I agree with you that the ATC voices are drowned out by the internal engine noise. I started from cold and dark, and I think the only spooling-up sound effects you get to hear are those for #1 engine. They give way to the internal roar, and that's pretty much the way it stays, even as engines 2, 3 and 4 go through their own start-up sequences. All in all, I'd say my experiences match your own, and if you come up with a solution, please post it here.

Regards

Paul

EDIT: Been flying it a bit more and with the engines throttled back and cruising at 20,000 at around mach 0.7, ATC becomes audible, but still quite faint.

My condolences on your loss, Paul. No need to apologise - after all real life can and does get in the way of flight simming, but usually in happier ways. Thank you for getting back to me though

It's no. 2 engine start which triggers it. From cold and dark I started 1, 4 and 3. Only when I started 2 did I get the overbearing roar. No solution as yet.

Mark, here's another thing for you. Get the K.2 up to an altitude somewhere between fifteen and twenty five thousand, switch on the altitude hold, and then see if you can get it to stop flying nose down. I vary the speed as much as I can, but it never seems to fly in a level attitude. At one point, I increased the altitude setting, and it started to climb - but still heavily nose down.

Hmmm.. It may be a feature! I've not yet tried that Paul, but certainly if I take any of the Victors to a high speed say 500+knots at low level!), they all appear to fly nose down. In addition trim is very sensitive!

I've consulted the servicing manual for the B.Mk.1A and K.Mk.1A Victor (obtained via ebay as you know) regarding the mach trimmer. Take the real aircraft beyond 0.85 mach and it assumes a nose down attitude which increases with further increases in mach no. This trimmer automatically feeds in up-elevator to compensate.

I think the FSX Victor exaggerates this trait...

I wonder if someone who knows what they're doing can tweak the .air file :)

I didn't select altitude hold, but did hand fly it up to almost 15000. Managed to just about trim the Victor. As you say very nose down if she's reading on the machmeter. However, here she is in a nose up attitude, but look at the IAS - 233 kt !!

Hi Mark,

I've been trying the Victor at various speeds while altitude hold is selected. At around FL200, she seems to adopt a level attitude between 300 and 350 knots. Just an observation, really.

BTW, have you got the Virtavia Avro Lincoln by any chance ? That model seems to have a constant nose-up attitude, no matter what the height or speed.
