747 RFP-my favorite 747

Recommended Posts

Guest aafuss

I've been flying VMax/JustFlight's 747 Ready for Pushback and it's an impressive 747-with impressive details and liveries and a great manual. Does anyone like or dislike this 747?

i dislike the package, because it has no TCAS system and the engineerspanel is far from complete. I had the feeling that they thought that this was the end of the line for this package and that they where not willing or not able to put more effort in completion of the panels.best regards, Martijn

You dislike the plane because there is no TCAS. This means you dislike the real 742. The TCAS was not invented until the early 90'shttp://www.answers.com/topic/1991?hl=traff...dance&hl=system"The Bendix/King Air Transportation Avionics division develops the Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System II, which monitors airspace for 40 miles around its location and monitors the position of up to 31 airplanes, ordering evasive action if required"

I absolutely love the RFP 742! (..although I have merged it with the POSKy model). The FDE is superb! IMHOIt is very easy to add Lee's "freeware" TCAS and the engineer's panel is plenty enough for me! :-hahI am not sure why RFP did not carry on developing the 742 and it's various guises ....but I am extremely grateful for what I have already....certainly one addon that will always be on my HD! and up there with my very favourites. :)Flights completed: RFP/POSKy ...too numerous to mention! : PMDG 744 ....0 so far :-lol

I do too-the autoland is nice and quite excellent and a easy flyer (I fly the PMDG 737-another Boeing "7xx" model, and the not as good MS default 747 as well, so it's easy for me to fly the 747).

Bob - I haven't tried it, but this thread should help: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...30385&mode=full . The actual procedures are down near the middle of the "discussion".Doug

Yes, it's clearly in the top tier of airliner addons for FS9, if not any addon. Ralph and his team did a tremendous job. You can tell by the negative posts in this thread that you pretty much have to grasp at straws to say something bad about it, and if you do a search you'll find that all the threads that discuss it are extremely positive. I fly the DF 727 more often only because of my flying style, but one of my favourite flights is still a short haul ferry flight using the RFP. When I get more time, I'll be using it more. Highly recommended.billg

Hmmmm......the TCAS is pretty simple to update to and there are both freeware and payware options available for that. There are several threads on the RFP forum which will tell you how to do that.Specifically, what is your problem with the Flight Engineers problem?Just curious.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg

I've always liked the RFP bird. Now I mostly use it merged with the POSKY Evergreen cargo model, and by adding a slurry drop special effects package and a drop control system gauge I have a working Aerial Firefighting supertanker. It's fun to wrestle the beast into the air, fly for an hour or so, lay down nearly 200,000 lbs of slurry, and go back home. Way better than droning at cruise for 8-12 hours, which is the usual 747 flight profile. The merge with the POSKY VC-25A (Air Force 1) is another option that works well and allows for realistic shorter legs, although the FDE needs some tweaking for the more powerful CF6-80 engines used on the VC-25.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

The RFP is excellent. These days I just fly the RFP or the PMDG 747 depending on if I'm in an analog or digital mood. :)

I wish they had altitude callouts, tcas, digital tape gauges like Northwest and others use, working windshield wipers, and a few other small things. But it is the best package out there IMO. It's a beast of an airplane but so much fun to fly. I've been in the smaller aircraft mood lately as it takes a lot to get her up and running, with work so busy I'm too lazy for all that lately.
