No mention of important announcements at AVSIM Front Page

Recommended Posts

Dear editorial team of AVSIM,

recently i was somewhat marveled, that there was no evidence at all about 2 key announcements of the X-plane world on the front page of your otherwise outstanding site: the IXEG 737-300 on April, 24th and EADT x737 on May 1st. Maybe that I missed it somehow, if so please apologize.

The producers of new products need to send out a press release to advise the various websites about the products release , without this happening the Editorial Staff has no indication of it .

Gotta agree with the OP here... That's like saying unless the murderer or murder victim somehow notify the paper, it

'aint on the front page...

Releases happen at unexpected times. Don't blame any of the hardworking folks here- it's probably a shopping list of developer sites to comb through "just in case."

I've been using "airdailyX.net" for "announcements" and this site for "discussion." You'll have your bases covered.

Avsims Policy Requires a Press Release from the Producers, there are exceptions but they have been few over the years.

Oh sorry ... believe me, it was certainly not my intention to blame someone here, i only was curious why there was no reference of the events mentioned in my initial post, because i was not aware of the established policies for announcements.  Now i know it and i fully accept that and am quite fine with it.

But at the end please allow me one remark: i consider - and surely many others do so - Avsim and (forgive me) FlightSim  as premium sites in flight simulation affairs and i regularly browse the frontpages of both sites to look for the latest news, rumors and randoms. But if there is no mention of some relatively important incidents, the feeling might arise, that this events passed by Avsim without being recognized or worse, are being ignored.

Yours sincerely,

Dietrich Stoeckl

We agree that the policy can lead to omissions , that said it has eliminated Editorial Bias for nearly 10 years, there were occasions pre 2007 where FP News Articles were published by associates for associates, also our biggest competition will only publish releases in their store and only review products in their store.

Avsim is run by volunteers but a number of us are also developers , myself I have produced Addons for a dozen companies over a decade and through our policy have not been in a position where I am obliged to allow or deny favors because all and every article posted has ascribed to the same criteria for publication.

It is Avsims policy to be unbiased in its promotion of the hobby and this is one of the means that policy is promoted, it may seem curious at first glance until one knows why the policy was followed for all these years.

Best Regards
